Don't like the title at all. I guess they were too gunshy to use "The Dark Knight Returns" after the "Superman Returns" legacy.

The title is just fine. I would've preferred "The Caped Crusader" or "Chippy".

I honestly would've preferred...THE BATMAN..and that's it.

I think there were other reasons not to use The Dark Knight Returns.

As soon as they cast Hardy I guessed Hush but the Louisiana thing reeks of Killer Croc.

Was kinda hoping for The Riddler. But I'm fine with whatever direction Nolan goes in.

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

I guess this title works. I am glad they avoided doing it in 3D. But who will the villains be? Catwoman? Bane? Ra's Al Ghul returns with Talia at his side? Scarecrow again but like a darker more sinister version? If they don't include Hartley Quinn as a villain then at least have her at Arkham Asylum as Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel. If Nolan is in control and the studio let's him have his way then this could be a very cool movie. Yes, it should end here and they can reboot it again (this time as the comic book version that can use any villain yet not be cheesy. Then it can go on for 20 sequels) ... but will Nolan kill off Batman at the end of the movie?

Why would it have to be rebooted? I've never understood why they can't just make stand-alone stories. After Nolan's trilogy comes to an end, there's no reason why a director couldn't just make a Batman movie that doesn't include his origin and all that over and over again.

Pretty much all three of the Nolan Batman titles have now been slammed upon being announced. I personally slammed the casting of Ledger. I now have faith in the man.

That being said:

It's starting to look like they're going to introduce a new main villian who has not been used on screen before. I remember reading Nolan say that Hush was his favorite, but the rogue gallery is so large and diverse it could be anybody.

BTW, I didn't see it here, but Michael Caine has stated that Batman 3 may be his last film before retirement.

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

I like the title, sounds like the name of a graphic novel, which is what Nolan's films seem like.

What everyone needs to remember is that Nolan is making a trilogy of the early years of Batman. I think the title is in reference to Batman defeating the situation he was in at the end of TDK and ending the movie firmly in the role as Gotham's defender. Furthermore, and this stays in touch with Nolan following stories set up by Loeb, I see this one showing the downfall of the traditional mob based criminals in Gotham and the rise of the "crazy" psycho ones. In short, Nolan will end the trilogy having established the Batman universe we know from the comics, where we can turn to look for further adventures.

Hardy does have the physical structure for Hush. The only thing that'd need to be changed would be the whole backstory on him and the Waynes. That'd never fly in the film.

Nooooooo! I want more Caine in Nolan films. I'd in fact would love to see a much smaller film from Nolan w/ Caine in the lead. I'd like to see what he can do w/ Caine as his lead.

Didn't he originally retire in 1992?

Not a fan of the title. It doesn't look right on paper and it doesn't role off the tongue very well. It may grow on me, but right now I don't like it. That being said the title doesn't make the movie, and in Nolan I trust. Unless Catwomen is in this film. Then I will lose faith.

Did Nolan say if the whole film will be shot on IMAX? I heard something about his DP wanting to do it all in IMAX if they could get smaller and quieter cameras.

No, that has not been confirmed. Nolan wants to use more IMAX/70mm, but it has not been confirmed whether or not the entire film will be shot with these formats.

TDK Returns sounds better to me, but I'm glad they kept TDK title. The riddler's always bored me, and since we're only getting one more movie from this crew I'm hoping for one of the more over the top villains... even a two face comeback would be great. I've always thought it would've been better had he escaped, and they knowingly held Dent's funeral for the public anyways. Granted, people would still figure it out once Two Face resurfaced...but it's an interesting idea.

I'm guessing "We'll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we'll be introducing some new ones" means that Scarecrow will appear again. Hopefully he'll have a bigger role this time around.

The Dark Knight Returns wouldn't make any sense. He didn't go anywhere, so why would he return? Rises makes sense, it just doesn't sound very fluid.

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

All the suggestions seem too close to another film. I think I would have preferred a title that was completely stand alone since Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were, but I suppose it could have been worse than The Dark Knight Rises.
