Talia's the best choice. The League of Shadows had a lot of agents running around free at the end of Batman Begins. And many, if not all, knew Bruce Wayne is Batman. If this is the end of the arc Nolan started, there has to be a payoff. Having Batman with outlaw status would be a perfect way for the LOS to send a new recruit to pose as Batman and kill for them. Heck, they could/should use Jean Paul Valley in such a role. No need to deal with the Order of St. Dumas when you can just adapt his origin to the League of Shadows.

hrm...I'm keen on that idea. Either way...I want a damn fine Batman film. Hopefully...it's better than TDK cuz that'd be awesome. Hard to do...but awesome.

I agree that the mob hiring Killer Croc isn't too hot, but I don't think the mob is gone; as mentioned, it was the catalyst for Batman and would come back strong if Batman is in exile.
In general, I think Killer Croc is lame and they should just do the Black Mask/Penguin/Riddler or perhaps Talia if it's to be a fully-ending arc.

I don't really care much for Talia, especially if she's going to be a primary threat. A lot of comic history there, sure, but by herself I find her relatively uninteresting versus the other more unique villains out there, although she would probably work out ok in the Nolan world.

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
We were in New Orleans today, and as we went into town we noticed (and remembered) an abandoned Six Flags theme park off in the distance. It was doing poorly and wiped out by Katrina, and I began to wonder if that might be some set piece for the next movie. I don't know what's left standing or anything like that, but I guess it's possible b/c of the WB ties.
ETA: Here are pics of the park as it stands now. It's just as creepy as I imagined it might be.

I don't know if you say this to my thought or to show that it's possible, but if there weren't rumors of shooting in Louisiana, I wouldn't think it would be possible at all.
The only reason (and I mean only) I thought about it was b/c of the rumors of possible Louisiana shooting. If it is an abandoned theme park, then that would take away the possibility of Killer Croc, but I also can't imagine a theme park working for someone other than the Joker.

Meh Talia would be a fine idea for this movie and I do like the idea of wrapping up what started with Begins, but if they choose to use her they need another villain in my opinion and make her just kind of a side plot. I just don't think she's strong enough a villain to be the main or only villain in such a big movie. I also am not so sure Warner would be keen on the idea of using her as the only or main villain seeing as she's not that well know outside of comic fans.

I'd still love to see Nolan work Harley Quinn into his Batman universe to some capacity, which is possible if they're taking on a modification of the "Hush" story.

The Dark Knight Rises
In an interview with Hero Complex, Christopher Nolan revealed that the title for his third Batman movie will be The Dark Knight Rises. He added that the villain "won't be the Riddler."
"We'll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we'll be introducing some new ones," Nolan said cryptically. He also said that the studio has agreed with him not to shoot the film in 3D.
The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for a July 20, 2012 release.

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film will be called “The Dark Knight Rises” and though the Gotham City auteur isn’t ready to reveal the villain of his 2012 film, he did eliminate one of the big contenders: “It won’t be the Riddler,” Nolan said in an exclusive interview with the Hero Complex.
Riddler rumors were off target. (DC Comics)
Nolan was most eager to talk about the fact that Warner Bros. had* agreed with his argument that the film should resist the current 3-D craze and instead use high-definition approaches and IMAX cameras to strike out on a different cinematic path than the stereoscopic technology that, for better or worse, has become the dominant conversation in the blockbuster sector.
Check back here later in the morning for a*more in-depth look at that decision and the Nolan ambitions and reasons behind it.
As for the title, it shows the writer-director’s intention to keep his Bruce Wayne trilogy tightly stitched together. “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,”*Nolan said cryptically.**I had an odd thought: What if Nolan somehow brings back Harvey Dent? The only reason I even mention it is because, back during post-production on the second film, Nolan told me that the title “The Dark Knight” was just as much about Dent and his fall from the status of shining-knight civic crusader. Dent was plainly dead at the end of the*last film, though, and Nolan*has been intent on keeping his Gotham City film firmly rooted in a gritty*gangland realism– this isn’t a franchise that has veered off into the supernatural or even much super-science.
Nolan plays things close to the vest — he’s one of the few*filmmakers of his generation who actually does wear a vest — and he chuckled when I tried to get a few more details*out of him. “Oh, you know me,*I don’t talk.” He began our conversation*by comparing it with a visit to the dentist’s office. Well, if so, he’s a patient who never opens wide. I asked if he could imagine a time when Warner Bros. would let a filmmaker shoot a Batman script where the villain isn’t one of the signature creations from the comic books. “Ah, Geoff Boucher, master of the leading question,” he said with a chuckle.
That’s when he did agree, however, to eliminate a villain candidate, namely Edward Nigma, the green-suited Riddler, who many people (myself included) assumed was the next natural choice. That character could be taken in a lot of directions — think of Kevin Spacey’s character in “Seven” as a compass point for one of those dark paths — but Nolan and his team are going*a different way.*As with “Dark Knight,” the new film*has a script written by Nolan and his brother, Jonah, and it’s based on a story by the director and David Goyer.*Earlier, I got Nolan to take Mr. Freeze off the list and, yes, this is like pulling teeth but don’t think for a minute that I mind. Nolan makes sublime films, and any secrets he wants to keep in place are done so to protect the final product.*As for me, I’m hoping now for Hugo Strange who, come to think of it, looks a bit like a dentist…

Not a bad title, I guess I thought it would be something different but it works for me. I, like a lot of people really thought The Riddler would probably be up next, but I like the fact that Nolan isn't necessarily choosing someone obvious. I just wonder who he will choose to use instead though.

I'm glad to hear about the plans to avoid 3D for this film, but I suppose Warner could still pull a 3D post-conversion on it. The title doesn't thrill me too much though; it feels too close to the previous film. But I am still looking forward to it 500%.

Not as stoked on the title as I was for TDK, but I LOVE hearing him say he made WB agree to not shoot or release the film in 3D. The pull that man has over there is unreal.

Harley Quinn would be cool (you could have the Joker entirely offscreen but still work as a "character"), but I don't think Tom Hardy is right for that role.

That's probably right. I was just pointing out that based on the wording from the first link, it just mentioned that WB agreed not to shoot the film in 3D.
