Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Honestly, the nipples on the suit never bothered me.
I went to art school, took anatomy classes, and I totally understand Schumacher's explanation about the fetishistic element to the costume and styling it after (homo erotic) Greek sculpture. The movie sucked as a movie. If the characters had been sympathetic and the plot compelling, this would likely have been a non-issue. Instead, the nipples have become shorthand for how misguided the main aspect of the film is. And frankly I'll take that suit any day over the second Nolan one, with the motorcycle style Bat helmet. I fully get the rationale behind it, but to me it just doesn't cut an impressive figure- especially in the cowl and especially in fully lit scenes. |

they wear those in the 3rd act when they go to battle Freeze at the observatory.
In retrospect, are these (ridiculous) suits any more over-produced/ over-designed than the current one? The hallmark of both looks to me like a lot of needlessly baroque design and filigree. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Both of Clooney's suits are modified versions of Kilmer's Forever suits.
The designs are basically the same, with a couple of minor changes to Clooney's Bat chest logo and where the cape connects to the suit, and bats added to the boots. The paint jobs are obviously different - Clooney's is blue toned rather than Kilmer's black and for the second suit it's exactly the same as Kilmer's 'sonar' suit only with silver patches all over it. Of course at the time Clooney joked he needed a bigger "codpiece" as well so there's probably a difference there...or not? The 89 suit is my favorite but I love the TDK / TDKR suit second. Especially in images we've seen of the film so far. Bale looks like he fills it out more than in the previous film. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I always liked the Batman 89 suit the best too. Searching for an image brought me to this page comparing the different ones.

Here's the suit being used for the upcoming DKR porno. Wonder what the logistics of getting out of it will be like.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I liked the '89 Batman film and rewatching it is not ruined by having seen Nolan's films. Gotham looks much more seedy and depressing in it, and Michael Keaton plays the best Bruce Wayne. Not so much the playboy act because it's never used, but he seems like he's haunted by what happened. Bale on the other hand seems to have more emotion doing his Batman voice, than as Bruce Wayne.
Batman Returns I didn't like at all when I first saw it. Everyone was saying how much darker it was, but the visuals made it seem much more silly. Like the penguins with rocket launchers for example. The camp started here, like when the Batmobile turns around to shoot exhaust flames at a clown, or when Alfred starts DJing the Penguins audio. Catwoman was the highlight of the film though. I thought Batman Begins was kind of boring. TDK was an improvement in practically every area to me. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I liked the look of Gotham City in the Burton movies too. I dunno there are elements to the Burton movies that I don't mind, but overall Batman (1989) just didn't do much for me the last time I watched it. I like certain parts but there was some stuff in it that just bored me. I like the second half better than the first. The stuff at Vale's apartment and the Joker/Batman confrontation at the end are great.
As much as I like The Dark Knight I actually think I slightly prefer Batman Begins to be honest. They're both great films but I just thought Begins did an awesome job with showing us Bruce's training and creating the Batman identity. I just thought it was a well done origin. Plus I found it cool that Nolan went outside the box and used villains who aren't exactly mainstream. |

The Adam West version of Batman works well for the time it was made and was a pretty fair portrayal of the Batman comics of the time. I think that's why despite it's corniness I still like it too.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
The Adam West Batman is a perfect way to introduce the characters to younger kids. Once the get a little older or more interested, TAS seems to me to be the best next step.

Damn. Who'd they hire to make the costumes? They're excellent.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I'll say this. I never had an issues with Clooney as Batman. Clooney was NOT the problem in those films and he gets a bum rap.
Besides, I never liked Keaton and Kilmer was just ok. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I like Christian Bale best overall as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Michael Keaton I thought was a decent Batman but I never loved his Bruce Wayne. For some reason I just never really bought him as a billionaire playboy type. As for Val Kilmer I'd say the opposite, he did a good Bruce Wayne but his Batman was just so-so. I honestly haven't watched Batman & Robin in years so I can't comment too much on George Clooney. I seem to remember that he wasn't bad necessarily but the material he was given he could only do so much with. I think he would have been a lot better with a different script/director.

-Comic book artists like porn? -Comic book artists try to appeal to Young Males and are generally Male so they draw what turns them on? |

And the costumes themselves are based on the designs from Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City. But regardless of who came up with the original designs, the costumes for this porno are exceptionally well made recreations of those designs. |
