Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Yeah, the bottom part isn't the regular tumbler. I'm assuming that's just a design they used for it to just make it pop up and still run. I'm going to guess that should it be the batwing they'll cg the parts back in.

Batwing sounds cooler.

/discussion Eh, only because that is what you are used to hearing since most people are only familiar with the movies. The names have always been somewhat cheesy with all the Bat-this and Bat-that. Even Batmobile is cheesy, but it is just so ingrained into our minds we don't think about it. Batwing is technically a person. He was around in the Silver Age for awhile and then disappeared until Grant Morrison recently brought him back in Batman, Inc. Batwing is even getting his own comic in September. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Nothing will ever top the BATWING for me:
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...h_DSC03688.jpg (this is a picture I took of a new toy I bought off eBay recently, it's small but just as awesome now as it was 22 years ago when the movie came out) I love that design because it looks so simple: it looks like a military fighter jet, just modified to look like the Bat logo. It looks believable, like it could really fly in that sense. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
....I dunno if that could actually fly if it was real.

And yes, "Batwing" sounds much better than "Batplane", and "Batmobile" sounds much better than "Batcar". |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Even though I call it the Batmobile, even I know it sounds cheesy as hell. I actually like it's actual WE name: The Tumbler. BUUUUUT...I still call it the batmobile cuz nobody really remembers Tumbler. Batwing actually sounds cooler than Batmobile though. Batmobile just sounds very cheesy.

We'll never know if it can, but it looks like it could. Compare it to most of the "batplanes" in comics and also the "Batman Forever" version. It's a great design.

VERY neat contraption they got there. I'd like to see how it was made...wonder how much the Batwing (or whatever it's finally called) part weighs? |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
"That's a camera? Looks like a spaceship..."
uhhhhhhhhhh |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
It looks like the Cobra hovercraft the Baroness landed from at the beginning of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Almost like one of the smaller attack choppers in "Avatar" or the similar Hunter-Killers of the "Terminator" films.
Just Tumbler-based, of course. Only thing is that looks more like something Batman would use to blow the shit out of both vehicles, buildings and people. If those extensions on the front are basically gun arms, that is. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
naw those looked like the engines
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Yup. They looked like turbines to me.
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Like a VTOL aircraft?

Was recently wondering when we'd see JGL do his thing in TDKR... <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6vodndWuwTg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/69a0xqzGqY8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5rWw9Ls6vZg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I just want a sleek cool Batmobile. I get the Tumbler in the first one..., but damn... I hope that this one ends with him driving off in a kickass sporty Batmobile, not a glorified Pontiac Aztek
|
Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
eh. I really like the Tumbler.
