Has anyone come across any comment from Steven Lisberger, director of the first film? Did he consult at all for this sequel? If not, why?

He's listed as a producer.

I just want to say that this is bigger than the Phantom Menace for me. It's been longer than the dry spell between Jedi and Menace, and it NEVER seemed likely that a sequal would ever be made. It also seemed that if a sequal were made it would not have participation from the original cast. It looks like they've done everything right with this film. Daft Punk on the soundtrack and they're even bring back Journey.

I watched the original film so many times when I was a kid. I think I watched it three times in one day once! You can't believe how UN-cool this film was circa 1990. Outdated visuals, music, Journey, etc. People were shortsighted as to just how unique the film looked. Tastes have finally come around, and what was dated is now "retro". The presence of Tron "homages" over the last ten years (car commericals, music videos and more have all used light cycle inspired visuals) has vindicated the original. It's one of the most uniquely stylized films ever made. There's nothing else that looks like it. I can't wait for Legacy.

Sweet trailer! I want to watch the first one again, but I'd like to wait for a Blu-ray of it rather than watch my DVD.

From my understanding, while they didn't go with Lisberger's original story, he played a huge part in developing the film.

And he co-wrote the sequel.

I hated watching the 1st Tron. The way it looked in the Tron world on TV made me annoyed w/ it. It just looked very crappy. Now as an adult I WILL NOT watch it till it hits Blu and it gets cleaned up cuz the way TVs showed off Tron is not the best quality out there. I'm behind the sequel though. At least the lights don't annoy the shit out of me.

That looks sweet. I wonder why they didn't do the same for Disneyland?

Because people in Florida sort of have to use the monorail. Oppose to Land where.. yeah, not so much.

Saw the trailer for this in Imax 3D in front of How to Train Your Dragon. I'm not a big fan of 3D, but it looks like they did a good job with this one.

Unless you just want to ride around in a circle through the park, yeah.

Interesting that they are starting so early, since the movie still has about nine months. I wonder if the attractions will be just a Flynn's Arcade or perhaps another ride altogether? They could definitely renovate some of the stuff at Epcot.

They should definitely market shirts.

Oddly enough, have had my flynn shirts since SDCC. ;)

I hear they are changing the arcade in Disneyland attached to Space Mountain to Flynn's Arcade. They also have had a billboard reserved on Santa Monica Blvd in West L.A. to be nothing but TRON billboards till December.

Also in the works is an animated show and of course the video game. It's simple to see that Disney is trying to make this into a franchise deal like they did with Pirates.

It's one of those wrappers you see on buses. In other words a moving billboard. Amazing how people get excited over advertisements.

Alan Bradley to make an announcement at Wonder Con:

Disney is really going all out with marketing. I'm excited :)

And those with fake Encom badges and part of the Flynn lives ARG are going to crash the announcement. ;)

They even have a guest room at the Hyatt to show up around 6.... Expect t-shirts and posters there.

Re: Tron 2 Announced at SDCC!!

Wondercon is in San Fran, right? Wish I could be there to crash it.
