Agreed. His face is so silly looking that it removes all the tension.

So you're saying ANOES will be amazing visually, have a mediocre story and make over $2.7 billion dollars worldwide?

Ok, but I don't see that happening.

I saw a trailer for this last night with Kick Ass. While it didn't look terrible, it didn't leave me clamoring for more. What's depressing is that a lot of the young audience seemed to like it.

Rorshach was the first thing I thought of too when I heard his voice.

It wouldn't shock me if there were people that think this is a brand new movie, and not a remake.

But EVERYBODY knows who Freddy is. To steal a line from New Nightmare, "he's like Santa Claus or King Kong." While it's true today's audiences don't take the time to associate an icon with the original film, lots of people know Freddy Krueger.

On that note...

Spoiler:

I've gotta say I think it actually works. Granted, I need to see the completed film before I can complete judge, but I actually feel a little creeped out looking at that, just like when I was a kid and I saw The Dream Master for the first time.

* or maybe Dream Master creeps me to this day out because of this:

For some reason I was little more intrigued last night after seeing footage on Leno. We have a midnight release and if some friends go, I'll check it out.

I got some movie money with the Blu-Ray, so I'll give it a go, but I have very low expectations.

I found that somewhat disturbing at age 12, but later saw it for what it was, set up for another punchline.

Oh, there's definitely a set-up punchline, but I have a thing about roaches and seeing a human sized one flailing about in flypaper with human legs kicking about is just WAY too much for me.

There's an action figure of it now which is even more bizarre.

Sooooo... looks like I'll be seeing this tomorrow after all. My buddy and I feel like, as huge horror fans, it's our duty to at least see it so we can either praise it, or properly talk shit on it. Either way, I'm going in with expectations that are extremely low, so here's to hoping it can exceed them.

^ Is that from the McFarlane line? Looks like one.
Spoiler:
does the head come off to reveal a roach face? I never figured out why that was the bizarre death for that character, as each one was done in a style to reflect a characteristic of the one slain.

No. McFarlane is basically dead in terms of movie figs. I believe this is from NECA.

I haven't seen the movie for a while, but doesn't she see a roach, freak out and step on it or something?

This is me too. At least I got the Movie Cash from the BD of the original so at least if it is bad, I can say I didn't pay anything.

Plus, I've seen every Nightmare movie since Part 2 on opening night. Kinda have to keep up the tradition. But I'm probably going to do a matinee.

No (to both questions), it's from some line by Mezco.

If I remember correctly, the reason Freddy turned her into a cockroach was more in line with what he did to Taryn in Dream Warriors. Both of them were really tough chicks that wouldn't take any s * * t from someone like Freddy and, to take them down a peg as a total f * * k you to their defiance, he threw their major insecurties - Taryn, her former heroin addiction, and Debbie was being catagorized as something weak and helpless - back at their faces in spades.
