Did I miss something?

We'll take it into the city and bury it where Megatron can't find it! Yeah, that's a great plan! Excellent plan, sir. I can't see any negative consequences from that. Autobots, roll out! das |
You didn't miss anything, das Monkey. They just chose the city because, although there would certainly be collateral damage, they were in a walled area (given all the buildings) and the city would afford them plenty of places to hide the Allspark until help arrived. Unfortunately, although the city did afford them the cover they sought, the sheer firepower of Megatron and the other Decepticons proved too much. That said, they would have been wiped out a lot sooner had they chosen to stay on the road with the Allspark.

was megatron when transformed an almost copy of cyclonus...
|
I think it had to do with getting somewhere that the rest of the military would have more access to. Since the D's were headed to the damn they had to get somewhere else to buy time until they could get more help/get the cube further. Keep in mind at the time it was only Bumblebee. He certainly couldn't take on Megatron by himself (not to mention Starscream).
|
Not an exact copy but there were definitely similarities between the vehicle modes of the two, raven56706.

I thought megatron looked like a beefed up silver looking x-wing.

I did like that when he put his arms together he formed a giant, F-off, Megatron canon.

That was great! I also love Prime's response by just running up and pulling out his own BFG!
Man, I can't wait for the sequel! :D |

I thought the scenes with robots flying into and through buildings kicked all kinds of ass. The one(s) with Prime and Megatron were particularly awesome.

Not only was the shot of Prime and Megatron going through building jaw-dropping, I loved all the details of the people running out of the way from within the building. It was nice to see that these weren't just some empty buildings and there was real danger involved.

Well, in all fairness, Lennox never got to see Megatron transform. As for Starscream, yes it was quite a gamble to go for the helicopter when you know one of your enemies can take the form of an F-22 (which Lennox did get to see prior to sending Sam off with the Cube). I guess he thought they'd keep the Decepticons distracted long enough for Sam to get the Cube to safety but hadn't counted on Megatron.

Was that LA? I know downtown LA isn't exactly Manhattan but the exterior shots made it look like that city had about 7 tall buildings.

I hated the robot dialogue at first, by I got over it by rationalizing that, since they learned our language from the Internet, it was sort of like when foreigners learn English from watching American t.v. shows. They pick it up, but it's a little off and cheesy sometimes.

According to the HBO First Look special on Transformers, certain spots in Los Angeless got turned into the WWE in broad daylight for the battle royale at the end of the movie.

Given the whole interenet angle, I guess Grimlock could become an 80's Russian stereotype if they chose to keep the "Me, Grimlock" type dialogue without making him a comeplete bonehead to explain the speech pattern.

"Me, Grimlock, kick capitalist pig butt!"
Still not sure how the dinobots are going to fit in with this more (christ, dare I say it?) realistic take on the characters. I mean the logic for their transformations rests on staying hidden... A big, stomping metal godzilla-looking T-rex doesn't really whisper, "Inconspicuous" to me. -Doc |

I'd love for a similar take on the Insecticons. Except maybe they should mostly be the size of Frenzy so they can be a whole swarm. |
