Frenzy was entirely restored when he touched the cube. I'm guessing Bumblebee didn't use it because they wanted to create massive drama :)

I'm still wondering why Bumblebee had a set of keys in him :)

Spoiler:
The Hacker Robot pulled a "Thing" after Megan chopped him at the fence. His head sprouted legs and he walked over to her purse and assimilated the Cellphone, tossed it, and transformed.

The whole time Megatron was yelling at Sam I kept thinking about "Darkness" from "Legend" calling Tom Cruise "boy".

Transformers was fantastic! It wasn't perfect, but for crissakes, it was based on Transformers; and I can't wait for the inevitable sequel.

I plan to own this DVD the day it's released.

I can't believe all the hate Spider-Man 3 got and all the loveTransformers is getting.
I liked the first hour of Transformers but when the Transformers fall from the sky like meteors and assemble and start to talk I started to roll my eyes and laugh at how silly this was.
I went into this without any knowledge of transformers and I hadnt seen any trailers for this and knew not really what to expect. I have enjoyed all of michael bays films (for what they are) but the last hour of Transformers was terrible IMO. If i was a young kid I think I would have enjoyed this movie more and would be able to look past it's horrible and laughable dialogue and plot.
The movie seriously reminded me of that Power Rangers movie and I was overall very dissapointed with Transformers...Overall the whole movie just seemed like a big toy commercial and i dont really see how so many people seem to be enjoying it.

i loved the moment when the transformers fell from the sky with the music playing. I loved that moment and them at sams home. This was a awesome flick, I had a great time, unlike Spiderman 3 which has to be one of the worst films of the year

Umm, well, they are TRANSFORMERS. Half the appeal of the old cartoon was that it was pretty silly. Now I know there are some who take their TRANSFORMERS VERY SERIOUSLY, but the majority of kids and grown up kids (like me) enjoyed the show for the very reason the Transformers always had a lot of humor in them.

Now, I know you said you had no idea about transformers prior to this, but I still don't understand how you can like the first hour of the film, which has a lot of silliness with Bumblebee and start disliking it when the others arrive.

I loved Spider-Man 3 and Transformers. They were both great times at the movies. I have really enjoyed a lot of the movies this summer. Even projects that were less than perfect turned out to be fun.

chris_sc77 07-04-07 11:37 PM

Well it may sound petty but I just hated every moment when a robot talked.
To me that is when the film lost any credibility it had and became a cartoon.
I dont know if it was the voices or the dialogue that they spoke (actually it was probably a lot of both) that bothered me but I could'nt help but just be ripped out of the movie when they spoke and felt like I was watching a bad DTV cartoon.

I didnt hate the movie however I was just dissapointed and wasnt very thrilled by it.

overall : C+

To each their own. Just know that all that you mention is pretty much what has made Transformers popular for what, 25+ years.

chanster 07-04-07 11:41 PM

Optimus Prime talked throughout the movie, including the very beginning...

I know you said you have no prior knowledge of the Transformers but it's based on a cartoon that really was just a half hour toy commercial filled with cheesy dialogue. My seven-year old self loved it and my now twenty-seven year old self loved this movie for being faithful in spirit to the original cartoon while still being modern.

**This thread is full of spoilers, so I am not hiding mine below . . . but just in case . . . you have been warned**

This movie ROCKED!!! Thank you Mr. Bay and Shia for delivering!!! I grew up with the cartoon and have gone through every emotion you can think of the past year since learning about the film (excitement of learning this was coming to the big screen, disappointment of some of the early leaks, anger at the proposed changes, accepting the changes, etc., etc. etc.) Some of your comments here and some of the recent TV Spots really got me pumped up . . . and boy did this movie live up to my expectations!!!

The theater was packed and the crowd just loved every minute of it. The action sequences of course were fantastic. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the comedy worked as well. There were several moments throughout the movie where the crowd cheered (opening, Prime's intro, Bumblebee upgrading his looks). Of course, a nice applause at the end as well.

It was great to see my sons loving this movie just as much as I did (9 and 6 years old). There was even a kid in the theater who started crying when Jazz got ripped apart by Megatron (reminded me how I felt when first seeing Prime get blasted in the original cartoon movie).

Many of Prime's famous lines were featured and a nice little tribute to G1 Bumblebee (beetle) in the used car lot. Loved the addition of the sword and Starscream punishing the other fighter jets in the sky was unreal. I can't wait to own this on DVD and the inevitable sequels!!!

I think people just hate to see michael bay have success. c'mon he outdid any summer movie this year so far and from the last previous years. give that man some credit. and to rank transformers behind huge turds like armageddon and the island, you have to be ignorant. and to here people complain about too much product placement. they're autobots so they have to be vehicles like chevy, dodge, ect. you expect bay to make up new car manufacturers.

dugan 07-05-07 04:49 AM

Just saw it. I bought my ticket right when the last group of viewers was exiting the theatre, and I knew it would be good when I saw a 5 year-old boy pretending he was Megatron firing his arm cannon.

My review? BEST MOVIE BASED ON A TV SERIES EVAR!!!111

The only thing I didn't like was the theme song. It sounds like a remix of the Unsolved Mysteries theme song.

Silly......sort of like a blue and red super spider biting a boy and turning him into a giant bullfrog that can shoot webbing out of his wrists.

A question I'm hoping someone can answer about the end of the movie:
Spoiler:
How or why did the cube kill Megatron? Prime was going to destroy it and himself by putting it into his chest, but all of a sudden it just killed Megatron. And the way Witwicki was holding it up to Megatron, did he know it was going to do that? At first it looked like he was giving it to Megatron.

Spoiler:
I guess he figured putting into chest + prime saying sacrfice meant it was going to kill the person... so instead of killing prime, he jugged up and killed megatron with it. .

Spoiler:
I don't think that tracks. The reason it would have worked on Prime is because of the Spark/Matrix in his chest. Not because he was simply going to put it in there. As far as I know Megatron didn't have that...so I too am confused as to why it actually killed him.

I know what you mean. He was great when he was tearing appart the F-22's. I just wanted more and more of him. As for his voice, I actually liked it. There was a very nice rasp to it. I liked it a heck of a lot more than Megatron's voice. (But I was already prepared for a new rendition of Starscream given that Chris Latta passed away. :( )

So much for ever getting the real Cobra Commander voice then too. :(

Maybe since Prime said they were brothers that he might have the same thing.. not sure why.. who knows it might be the step towards the sequel
