Rumor is that the title may be "Indiana Jones & The City of Gods"
Not great, but it beats the first choice, which was
"Indiana Jones & The Phantom Menace"

One possible scenario:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teotihuacán
Teotihuacán is the "city of the gods" (the name itself may mean "birthplace of the gods"). According to Wikipedia, "the early history of Teotihuacán is quite mysterious, and the origin of its founders is debated." There's also a lot of "speculative" stuff (to put it nicely) out there about the city and its connection to a supposed ancient civilization from outer space. And this story takes place in the '50s, during the height of the public's fascination with UFOs and extraterrestrials.
Indy and little green men?
Less likely is a story about Atlantis, but that's already been done very effectively as a computer game, and I don't think Lucas or Spielberg are interested in adaptations.

More casting news....
Ray Winstone ("The Departed," "Cold Mountain") is set to join the cast of the fourth "Indiana Jones" film says The Hollywood Reporter.
Winstone will play Harrison Ford's sidekick in the project whose plot is being kept tightly under wraps.
Cate Blanchett has already boarded the David Koepp-penned project in an undisclosed role.
Shooting begins this June in Los Angeles and at top-secret locations around the world. A global release is scheduled for May 22nd 2008.
Why is this damn movie so hush hush? Whats the big deal, I mean shit come on.

From DH,
George Lucas spoke with USA Today this week and of course the topic of the fourth "Indiana Jones" movie came up.
Of course the big questions is how will 64-year-old star Harrison Ford be convincingly up for all the rough and tumble action?
"He's not running in any of the movies. He's either on a horse or driving a car or a motorcycle. And he'll play his age in this movie with what's appropriate. The chases are more suspenseful than speedy. Like the rolling ball in the first film -- it's not that he's running that fast, it's that there's a giant ball coming at him." says Lucas.
One tradition will be maintained though - "he will get beat up." Sean Connery has yet to sign on as Indiana's father, but Lucas says "we're still trying." He also won't go into detail about the 'top secret filming locations', but drops that one will be a waterfall.
As for the official title? It's being kept under wraps until the first trailer hits theaters around Thanksgiving.
That’s not true Lucas, Indy was running away from the natives in Raiders, and running through Cairo too….. running across the bridge in ToD and running through the castle in Crusade. Stupid Lucas doesn’t even know his own movies.
Trailer by Thanksgiving though!! Woot!

Look at the movies we're getting in the next year or last: Rocky Balboa? Live Free or Die Hard? John Rambo? Indiana Jones 4? What is this, unpublished news from 1992?
But seriously, fuck it. I can't wait to see Dr. Jones in action again. Cate Blanchett and Ray Winstone are awesome additions to the cast. Sean Connery should return.
And the thought of a trailer for Thanksgiving has me all sorts of stoked. I have a feeling (I have not heard this even rumored) that the movie it'll be attached to is Paramount's big November release, Beowulf. If memory serves they did the same strategy by putting the Last Crusade teaser (with the behind the scenes footage) before Scrooged, which was released the same month.

Shia LaBeouf officially in Indy IV
http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=20611
So, after weeks of speculation, during which the man himself kept a straight bat with journalists saying it was merely a ‘rumour’, it’s finally been confirmed that Shia LaBeouf has signed on for a part in Indiana Jones IV.
"Up until about two weeks ago, it was little more than a rumor," the 20 year-old actor, who also stars in this summer’s Transformers, told USA Today. "Literally, when I was saying, 'I don't know anything,' I didn't know anything. It was an act of faith. I have not read a script. I don't think anybody has."
Well, we’re pretty sure George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford have, Shia, but don’t be too hard on yourself, sunshine. You’ve just landed the role of a lifetime and confirmed your burgeoning rep as one of the finest young actors in the business.
Of course, since LaBeouf’s name has been linked with Indy IV, the ‘net has been awash with rumours that he would be playing Indy’s son – Henry Jones III??? - which, if rumours that Sean Connery is still mulling over the script, would have turned the film into a weird remake of Family Business. But LeBeouf insists that he’s not sure what role he’s playing.
"I can tell you I'm sort of the sidekick character, obviously," he says. "I'm sure there are a lot of laughs at my expense, and some kind of creature crawling on me. But it’s not going to be Short Round, all grown up!” Well, of course not – LaBeouf is a talented actor, but playing a Chinese character is probably beyond him.
But when he says he doesn’t know what role he’s playing, we’re inclined to believe him. A recent visit to Spielberg’s offices on the Universal lot, including sitdown time with Lucas, elicited nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
"Lucas looks at you and says simply, 'I can't tell you that,' " laughs LaBeouf in a quote we didn't just simply lift from the USA Today story, honest. "Then when he thinks he is supposed to tell you something but isn't sure, he gets up and leaves the room, goes in to talk with Spielberg and comes back and says, 'Nope. Sorry.' "
Spielberg, though, has been forthcoming on LaBeouf’s casting, telling USA Today in an emailed statement, "Shia has extraordinary range. I think of him as 'the young man for all seasons." So there you go. It’s just another indication that Indy IV is a reality – excitement levels building!

I noticed this kid was hosting SNL this weekend. He seems to be the new it kid. I had never heard of him before yesterday. I wonder if he is going to be a son.

How about Indy's archeology student?
Age-wise it fits better than him being Indy's son (Which makes no sense what-so-ever)

You know what? You guys are right. The Last Crusade was made in 1989, which means LaBeouf could probably pass for Indy's son if Indy had him immediately following the events in Last Crusade.
For some reason I was thinking the Last Crusade was only 10 to 15 years old. I can't believe it's been almost 20 years since the last film.

Sallah Not In "Indiana Jones IV"
If this is true this is absolute bullshit!!!!

Sallah Not In "Indiana Jones IV"
From DH
'deciph3r' had the chance to talk to Johnathan Rhys-Davies at the Armageddon Pulp Expo in Christchurch, New Zealand over the weekend and confirmed his "Indiana Jones IV" non-status:
"Seems he has not been asked to be in Indy 4 or even approached about it.
From the little information he had about the film he had been told through a third party that the character of Salah had been written out of Indy 4 in favour of a younger cast."
Damn, that just...well sucks. Davies, better known as Gimli from "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, played the lovable rascal Sallah in both the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and the second sequel "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

Well, if it doesn't take place in the mid-East... then I can see how it wouldn't make a difference to have Sallah written out.
