Meanwhile in news of another high profile sequel, Monsters and Critics reports that Harrison Ford has threatened to quit the new "Indiana Jones" movie unless he gets to use a real whip.
Seems that due to safety regulations (ie. insurance wouldn't cover him), Ford was told the weapon would have to be computer generated. Harrison apparently branded the rule "ridiculous" and said he would pull out of the film if he couldn't wield his whip.

Harrison Ford has embarked on an extreme fitness regime for the new Indiana Jones film.
The 64-year-old is making every effort to get in shape to reprise his role as the adventuring archaeologist, 18 years after his last outing.
A source close to the actor is quoted as saying: "He's been furiously working out on the treadmills at a Los Angeles gym for about three hours a day to get in shape.
"He's on a strict high protein diet. He's eating lots of fish and vegetables. It's hard but he's already looking great for it. He wants to make sure Indiana is as tough as he always was."
Shortly after announcing he was to make a fourth film with director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas, Harrison insisted he was fit enough to perform his own stunts.
He said: "We need to move on for artistic reasons and obvious physical reasons but I feel fit to continue and bring the same physical action."
Harrison was also adamant he got to wield Indiana's famous whip.
Bosses wanted the weapon to be computer generated because of new film safety rules, but the actor branded the rule "ridiculous".

Any word on any supporting cast? I mean if this thing is going to get up and rolling in a few months wouldn't we have some sort of cast by now? Sallah? Marion? I mean shit at this point I would even take Jock or Earl Weber....

I wonder if he'll be ok enough to even do it!
I wonder if he'll be ok enough to even do it!I actually thought he had retired from acting minus some voice work he had signed up for on some animation flick - which is probably completed at this point.
Obviously he's free to "come back", but giving what DFNY said it seems different than say Jordan "quitting".

Me too. June is not that far away. But anything can happen between now and then.

Rising son shines on 'Indy'
LaBeouf may become Ford's kin
By PAMELA MCCLINTOCK
Indy, you're a dad.
Shia LaBeouf is in final talks to star in Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones 4" as the son of the adventuresome archaeologist to be played once again by Harrison Ford.
Spielberg and George Lucas' Lucasfilm, which is producing "Indiana 4" for Paramount, are keeping the storyline under tight wraps. David Koepp ("Spider-Man") penned the script.
Neither Par nor Lucasfilm would confirm that talks are under way with LaBeouf.
Spielberg is set to begin lensing "Indiana Jones 4" in June. Pic, which resurrects the lucrative franchise after nearly 20 years, is set to unspool May 22, 2008, taking advantage of the Memorial Day holiday.
LaBeouf stars in two upcoming DreamWorks pics, "Disturbia" and summer tentpole "Transformers." Thesp also provides the lead voice in Sony's upcoming toon "Surf's Up!"

Hasn't Steven been the one that's crazy for LaBeouf? I've only seen him in Constantine, but provided he can toughen up a bit for the part I don't mind. I just hope he doesn't take away too much screen time from Indy.

I've actually never hated the idea of Indy having a son(provided he's a grown man and not a little kid). But I don't see this Shia dude as Harrison Ford's offspring.
Why can't they just bring back Short Round, damn it?!
