From DH

"Indiana Jones" is set to whip it out in New Haven, Connecticut.

Steven Spielberg's crew for the fourth Indy film will shoot a car chase on Chapel between College and High streets in New Haven on at the very end of June.

A pre-production crew was in the city last week and Monday talking to shop owners on the block.

The New Haven Register confirms the film will have 1950's period setting according to several merchants who were approached by crew members.

New Indy plot details....

Spoiler:
From DH,
Meanwhile a source for CHUD says that the opening action scene of the upcoming "Indiana Jones IV" will pit Dr. Jones against Russians agents in Area 51. Seems much of the story will delve from Erich von Däniken's 1968 novel Chariots of the Gods?" which centers on the theory that many ancient civilizations' technologies and religion were given to them by space travelers who were welcomed as gods.

All sorts of new Indy IV news here, most notable perhaps is that
Spoiler:
Cate Blanchett will be playing the russian villainess in the film

The new story doesn't seem to classical like Raiders has, too sci-fi.

Well I suppose we should brace ourselves for the inevitable "first shot" of Indy behind-the-scenes... esp if they start filming this wk. I imagine the shots of Indy won't be too flattering out of context...

Maybe Lucas will "re-imagine" these films in time for the HD-DVD release when the 4th film hits to fit his comments?

Also, will Williams be scoring this film? I know that Spielberg shows John the kind of respect that his scores deserve, but Lucas pissed all over Clones and Sith by over-pro-tooling/cool editing and butchering two great scores.

Based on the news in this thread, I would have to say that I wish this franchise was left alone.

It may be Lucas' characters, but this is sure as hell still Spielberg's movie.

At least his reasons seem to be decent ones...doesn't seem to be any issues with George, Steven or Harrison. Then of course, he MIGHT have wanted a sum that Paramount just wasn't going to pay.

Ford is older now than Connery was when he played Indy's dad in the third film.

When is this coming out again? If it's next summer they haven't done much, but then again, these movies were never CGI heavy and didn't require much post-production. Hopefully GL keeps that in mind.

Now Marion is a character who needs to return considering Indy's(and presumably her) son is in the movie. Sallah's absence kinda sucks though.

To be honest Karen Allen hasn't aged well, but who knows.

John Hurt is a nice addition.

By the way, if you watching the ET footage last night closely, you may have spotted George Lucas wearing a T-shirt that said:

I posted a similar thought on the expected date for the teaser for Dark Knight, and I thought I'd offer a similar assumption.

Lucas said the teaser would be released around Thanksgiving; if that's true, we should be seeing it in front of Beowulf (Paramount's big November release) later this year.
