I like Anne Hathaway as Lois (but she'd act Routh off the screen, I'm afraid). I also liked Rachel McAdams as Lois as well, not sure if she's so short that it'd be problematic since she's 5'5" (though that's 3" shorter than Hathaway, and also 4 years older than Hathaway).
I find that Elizabeth Banks lacks a certain bit of gravitas and screen presence.

good actress, great comedic timing, excellent screen presence, with just a hint of Margot Kidder in her. She's the one. Make it happen.

Wow, Rashida is probably the best mention yet. I do agree with Solid Snake, a WOMAN needs to play Lois, not a girl playing a woman. I'm not sure how old Rashida Jones is, but she at least looks older than Kate Bosworth.
*edit - Looking at imdb it looks like she has 7 years on Bosworth.

Never heard of Rashida Jones before be she definitely looks like Lois.
I too agree with Lois needing to be a woman and not a girl.

Nope, not feeling Rashida Jones as Lois. She's better suited for TV roles, totally average in "I Love You Man". Already 32, she'll be almost 35 before they even have a script ready to shoot.

Lois *should* be in her mid 30s. So should Superman. I don't understand this obsession with casting CW rejects in signature roles, that lack the experience and weight required for roles even as silly as those in a Superman movie.
Michael Keaton was *38* when they did the first Batman movie. Say what you want about the movie, but Keaton was fine in the roll and gave it some serious intensity. Kim Basinger was in her 30s as well. Who was the hot 20-something actor in the late 80s? Judd Nelson?? Rob Lowe??? C. Thomas Howell??? *shivers*

Not to mention Robert Downey Jr. being 40+ in Iron Man. A *great* actor will make you forget *any* age issues.
(And yes I know, it's because Hollywood is thinking longterm sequels... but let's face it, I'd rather get 1 or 2 great movies than 3 ok-to-mediocre ones... Does anyone *really* give a shit if Kirsten Dunst doesn't return for Spiderman 17?)

Holy SHIT! That girl is a great replacement for Margot Kidder..well visually speaking. She has the Lois Lane smirk/smile! Was that her in I Love You, Man? I could believe her to be Lois Lane. Routh is a given but Lois Lane has to be a strong woman in character and presence. She's not MJ from the Spidey movies, though MJ was a great character in the comics till they wrote her out...she may be back I dunno...I have a stack of comics here unopened.

Rashida Jones is the best choice for Lois Lane - who cares what age she is. She's a hotter version than Margot Kidder, and more likable as well.

I googled "Rashida Jones as Lois Lane" just to see if there was any other buzz on the net and it turned up a blog from 2007 that mentions that she would have been a better choice. There's actually quite a few links tying the two together.

No...kill. The kid's existence lilterally kills the whole franchise. I mean..don't even bring him up. And...don't have Lois Lane smoking...it's so weird seeing that nowadays. Does Lane smoke currently?

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
I wouldn't connect the next Superman movie to the previous one. The act of trying to make continuity could seriously compromise the next film. I say to hell with the kid or anything that happened in Superman Returns and start fresh again. Get Routh, get Rashida Jones, Braniac, and Darkseid. And that's that.
The obsession with continuity is out-of-hand.

These idiotic fanboys who scream about "continuity" and "making movies fit" are no more sane than the Kathy Bates/Annie Wilkes character from "Misery".
Get over yourselves, fanboys. It's about what WORKS, not shoe-horning characters, events, or idiotic plot devices into every other story that comes along because that way it doesn't "violate continuity".
Same thing as in comics, for that matter.

I'm sure Bryan Singer had ideas for the next film while RETURNS was in production.
Instead of a complete re-boot, just let Singer get "WRATH OF KHAN on it" as he once stated. Keep the cast. Do what can be done to address the subjects raised by SUPERMAN RETURNS. Raise the budget, lower the budget...whatever. JUST MAKE THE DAMN MOVIE BEFORE ANOTHER TWENTY YEARS PASS BY!
