For those still following at home, director Bryan Singer continues to ramble on nonsensically when asked about doing a potential follow up to "Superman Returns."

The following is from a new interview with Total Film magazine when Singer was asked if he would be involved in the project: "I don't know, I don't know. There are still issues ... I just ... I just don't know. I don't necessarily...I don't know. It's one of those things where ... It's so weird talking about stuff unless I'm about to ramp up and shoot it."

Meanwhile, Singer was more lucid, but still evasive, in a new interview with the Edmonton Sun newspaper.

Singer told the paper his next movie will be a sci-fi fantasy "genre" film.

"It's almost totally in place, but I can't talk about it," he said.

The Sun asked if that next movie started with an "S" (for Superman).

"I wish I could say, but I'm trying to nip it in the bud because I tend to babble when I'm interested and excited about something," he replied. "And I'm definitely in the 'interested and excited' stage -- which is definitely better than the 'What the f--- do I do next?' stage. I can tell you that science fiction and fantasy, those are the films I lined up around the block to see as a kid. Those are the films I love to make."
Hopefully his next project starts with an "L" and his long in development Logan's Run.

I think it'd be better if his next film was something that acted like X3 never happened where we instead get a quality film to wrap up a great trilogy.

Thanks for posting that clip. He looks great! WB, I don't care who you put behind that camera, but please PLEASE keep Routh as the man of steel!

Yeah, Routh definitely looks the part. Too bad his acting abilities make Keannu Reeves look like freakin' Lawrence Olivier.

Oh bullshit. Routh has more acting talent in his pinky than Reeves has in his whole body.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

The problem w/ Returns on part of the character itself is that...well. He barely spoke. Kent was ok I guess..but Superman never got to talk that much. Routh is the current Superman we want...Returns didn't let him play it so well though.

Routh is fine. Christopher Reeves wasn't Classic DeNiro or Nicholson for crying out loud.

I'd love to see him as Supes again.

Yeah Routh was great, considering what he had to work with.

Count me in as a Routh fan. I thought the guy was great and I believed the guy was Superman.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

Yeah, he'll be 30ish soon so the perfect age imo. Hope they do an Incredible Hulk reboot.. cast Rachel McAdams as Lois, use any villain but Lex, keep the action intense and we're good to go.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

1) Reboot the property entirely.

2) Keep Routh. I enjoyed him as well, and WOW the fucker got big.

3) Cast Elizabeth Banks as Lois.

4) The whole "superkid" thing never happened.

5) Have the main baddie be Brainiac, a mech entity voiced by Christopher Lee.

6) Include Luthor in a small supporting role, as an archenemy Kal-El is forced to team with, and recast him with Jason Isaacs.

7) Opening Battle Scene with Lobo (played by Benecio del Toro), in a massive slugfest. This actually ties into the plot somehow.

8) After said slugfest, Supes delivers a beaten Lobo to Thanagarian Hawk Police, two of whom remained stationed on Earth and assist in quelling Brainiac's Metallo uprising.

9) The thematic arc of the entire script would show Superman as *NOT* being Earth's sole protector and guardian angel, but an inspiration to uplift the common man into making his protection his own responsbility. During the Metallo uprising, while Supes is out-of-the-picture for whatever reason (wounded, imprisoned, depowered, whatever), armed groups of humans around the world ramp up the resistance, many of which using the Superman S as a banner.

10) The big climactic battle is in stopping Brainiac's Doomsday weapon. This involves some ginormous battle in space and includes the Hawks, Steel, the Guardian, heck even the Metal Men, stopping some ginormous hoohah plan to obliterate Earth, send the sun into supernova, transport the Earth into another dimension, whatever.

Epilogue...

11) Except the true nature of the "Doomsday" plan was not that at all, but to replace all Earth life with silicoid life forms used to act as living microprocessors for one giant supercomputer. As the movie ends, one such life form is left behind on Earth, and has been infused with Kryptonian genes as a worst-case scenario by Brainiac. And in the next movie, he'll be gunning for the Man of Steel.

12) While Brainiac's plan to transport Earth through dimensional rift apparently failed, what it actually did was create a duplicate Earth in a pocket universe... where everything, everyone, seems to be some kind of Bizarre Replica, twisted and mutated and mindless. After betraying the Man-of-Steel, Luthor gets his comeuppance by somehow being stranded on this world... much to his eventual satisfaction.

13) Jimmy Olson does gay porn.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

Elizabeth Banks might be nice as Lois..I'm sure everything 6 is a joke, still interesting. God yes...how the fuck do you handle the child? It was like a literal kill for the franchise once that became part of the story.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

I'd be happy with the idea of a "requel." Bring back Routh (and perhaps Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen) and get rid of what didn't work. Bond movies have always excelled at that type of thing.

No Elizabeth Banks. Ugh. Horrible, ugly actress. McAdams is too short I think to pair with Routh.

Anne Hathaway would be my No. 1 choice for Lois Lane.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

I like the Elizabeth Banks suggestion as Lois Lane. I find her very pretty, but not knockout gorgeous, which is about right for Lane.

Routh must stay, anything else is go. Just make a good movie please.
