The Spidey-Sandman fights are looking bad ass!

Hate the idea of Sandman being Ben Parker's killer. Hope it's not true.

Has anyone seen this rumor? It says that Bruce Campbell may appear as Mysterio in the movie. They are trying to kill this movie with villain overload. First rumors of the Lizard appearing, now Mysterio? Was the Lizard rumor ever confirmed or not?
I work at the theatre where Evil Dead: The Musical is playing at (the show is completely awesome btw, and I'm saying that as a fan of the films and not as an employee), and Bruce came to do a Q&A after one of the shows last week. The only information that he would give about Spider-man 3 was that "he and Spidey team up". Of course, putting things in context, he also said that his usher character from the second movie was "the only person to ever defeat Spidey" (by stopping him from getting into the theatre). So interpret that as you will.

I posted to a friend as a joke that the conceptual designer for the Goblin was stealing the look from the Cenobite suits from Hellraiser:

It's just a minor point to make the fight more personal and make it so that Peter actually needs and is desperate enough to capture sandman enough that he'll let the revenge consume him and make him weak for the symbiote

Well, they never actually showed who pulled the trigger. Just the person driving the getaway car.

It's not even 2007 yet and already we have two Spidey posters and trailers. I think it's safe to say we'll be getting one more right before the month of May. I hope this movie doesn't get backlash from all the overkill pre-release hype im sure it'll be getting leading up to its release. I don't recall them doing this for Spider-Man 2.

they pull the ol' switch-a-roo. more than likely saying that the guy in 1 was just his partner in crime and it was actually Church that pulled the trigger.

I hope the Sandman twist doesn't pan out. That would be a lame retcon.

As for the trailer, it rocked. I kinda wish I hadn't watched it though as it gave away a lot of the plot. Not as spoilerific as the Spidey 2 trailer, but damn close.

Wasn't it just sandman taking the shape of that guy? Or can he not do that?

I usually get pretty stoked for this stuff, but I'm sitting here saying 'bleh'...the effects looked awful (obviously those won't be the final ones, i hope)...Sandman being ben's killer sucks, Topher Grace does not suit Eddie Brock at all, Tobey Macquire can't act and Kirsten Dunst is still whiny and hard to listen to. There was nothing that grabbed me in this trailer and made me think 'I have to see this"...It just looks like more of the same tired crap which wasn't that great in the first place...

ps-that Lord OF The Rings rip off shot was laaaammmee.

Everybody else has already stated my complaints about the new trailer:

1. No Venom
2. The ridiculous Sandman retcon

My anticipation for this film has gone way down.

I am staying a little more level headed than a lot of you seem to be. I can see that a lot of the effects shots are not great...but i trust Sam to get them sorted out by opening day. Having Sandman as Uncle Ben's killer.....we lets see how this pans out. Personally i will be surprised if this plays out this way. The character in both the comics and the cartoons has always been one that is always on the edge between villain and hero. And the poster with him sheltering the little girl from the police only seems to back this up. He will be played like Dock Ock....a character that is good at heart but who is forced to do terrible acts. Personally i like Toby McGuire as Peter Parker, he has done a great job so far. I am not a fan of Kirsten Dunst...but she is acceptable. Topher Grace is someone that i think is very talented. I never liked or watched "That 70's Show", but i think he has a future in movies. He will be a good Eddie Brock. Brock is a dark mirror reflection of Parker in the movie instead of being a bulked up muscle bound evil Spiderman he is in the comic books. I hope that we are left with a tease of Venom and that he will be the central villain in the fourth film instead of playing a major part in this one. The character that i am feeling worried about is the Night Surfer or whatever the hell they are calling him. I still think they should have done the Hobgoblin for Harry and gone back to basics with something more akin to the comic book style (hood, satchel, better color scheme). He looks more like a cross between something out of Power rangers, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and that shitty part (the whole movie is shitty....but this is one of the incredibly shitty moments) of Batman & Robin where they are surfing through the sky. As for Mysterio....this will not even be a character. Bruce Campbell is going to be playing Quentin Beck aka. Mysterio. So we will see the everyday side of him. I imagine he will be something like a magician on stage who will ask Peter to come on stage to help him with an act.....something basic and played for laughs.

I am still looking forward to this film, and i thought the trailer did a great job of keeping me excited. They have work to do, but all the problems will be taken care of i am sure.

Yeah, I really doubt it turns out Sandman is Ben's killer, if only because they say so in the trailer. They pull stuff like that all the time. Someone's probably trying to set the guy up, which makes Spider-man go after him, then he learns the truth towards the end. Also, it doesn't look like Harry's flying the glider like a snowboard in the trailer, so I'm not sure what the problem is. He might have a glider that he can fly in any direction, front, back, and sideways.

It looks like Harry just uses his equipment to go after Spider-man, not necessarily become the Green Goblin. After all, he's not crazy like his dad. He probably has mixed feelings about Spider-man after learning that he's Peter, but then feels like he's doing the right thing when Peter starts to turn bad from the costume. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into the trailer.

Would liked to have seen a quick shot of Venom, or Brock finding the costume, but that probably won't happen 'till the end of the movie and they don't want Venom to be the focus of the trailer. Maybe Peter gets rid of the suit and he and Harry team up to fight Venom. That would be cool.

I thought it looked pretty good. I was quite surprised to see that so much of the plot was included. I was watching it in a bar w/o any real audio to hear, so I didn't hear the thing about Sandman being Ben's killer. I am not so hot on that idea, but I am certain it will be incorporated in a sound way.
Perhaps that is just a ruse. I don't see a major plot point like that being something they would put in a trailer.

I agree.

I'm getting pretty excited to see this now.
