I'll be ridiculed for saying this, but I find AvP quite watchable.

It's not the A+ of Alien or the A of Aliens, but I can overlook the negatives and enjoy most of it.

Yep, I still like AVP - people complain about the predator vision being screwed up, but I thought it was a cool idea to give it two modes - red for heat (humans0 and green for acid (aliens).

I agree. Much better than the dreck that was Alien 3 and Resurrection.

And here is where I really get ridiculed..

Alien3 is a fantastic film. But I like dark.

Resurrection wasn't very good, I'll give you that though.

I would have to agree with you on this ...

Alien3 was very good.

in this order A L I E N, Alien3, Aliens (close tie), Alien Ress, AVP

I pretty much agree with that order, although I put Aliens ahead of Alien3.

I enjoy them all mind you, grades ranging from A+ down to C+/B-.

And on the release date question, Christmas Day is a Tuesday, and movies are usually released on a Friday, right? So that 21st date makes more sense, as it is the Friday before Christmas.

I think AVP is way more watchable than Resurrection.

The banner ad that I saw said that this comes out on 12/25. I thought this was pushed back to next year.

I guess it's time for me to find a theater that's open on Christmas Day.

And those first 5 minutes look really good. Not great, but the second that the

You kidding me? It's one of the busiest days of the year.

Heh, I did not know that.

I actually called the theater closest to our house just after making that post. They said that they're open from 9am-11pm that day. Since we're doing the Christmas thing in the afternoon this year, we'll probably be at the first showing of the day.

Morning's probably best. It's when the kids are opening prezzies. Afternoon on though - packed.

Yeah, we go to the movies on Christmas every year after we've done the presents and had an early dinner...however this year the 'Christmas Day' crop of films is pretty limited (everything opening on the 21st will be seen well before the 25th) and I don't think the rest of my family will be up for AvP-R... however I'll be there on the 26th for sure.

Gotta say, those first 5 minutes looked pretty good. Wish the pacing was slower and predator movement less human like, but other than these minor annoyances it looks like I'll be there opening night.

That first 5 minutes was better than the whole of AVP. That doesn't say much, but it says enough. I gotta go opening night.

Since I saw the first redband trailer, i've been hyped for this. I think it'll be much better than that other one which shall not be discussed.

They won't screen this for the press. Doesn't bold particularly well.

It doesn't bold well?

I never in a million years thought that this actually would screen for critics. I still think it has a shot at being a fun movie.

The IMDB shows the running time as a paltry 86 minutes.

Looks like the Execs at FOX had their way with this one.

Or maybe....just maybe it's a "Versus" movie that only has enough storyline to fill up 90 minutes. I don't think I'd want it any longer than that.

That was the Red Band trailer that was posted on IGN a while ago...did they already take down the first 5 minute clip?

They took it down, but you should be able to find it on a few other sites by searching.
