The trailer shows how intense the movie gets, but we want you all to know that it is filled with lots of suspense and development as well. It was important to all of us that the first impression that people have of the film shows them how different of a direction it is from the last movie.

Awesome. I seriously hope they can follow through.

I just chalk it up to different Predators, different looks. Hell, when P2 came out they made a point of saying that the one in P2 was a younger Predator than the one in P1 and with a different look, different weapons, and such. So I can see Preds being somewhat diverse in body build. They don't all have to be bodybuilders, but neither do that all need to be beanstalks

Also, wasn't the original Predator(s) played by a tall thin guy? The Pred(s) in AVP were played by a retired 7ft Athlete. I would think the body builds where different.

Well, regardless of the one chasing Danny Glover being a younger Predator, looking at the original Predator and the Sequel together you'll notice that those predators look vastly different.

Shit, even look at the elder predators that come out during the tunnel scene of Predator 2. They do not look anything like the shitty looking Predators we see in AVP1.

The sleeker design does help staple the look of the predators. While I realize the story will still be total shit. That continuity will be fucked over as Aliens land on earth decades before anyone shot into space heading towards LV426. At the very least this film promises one thing that AVP1 could not do even if it wanted to try. Provide some sense less violence.. TRUE senseless violence for an hour and a half or so to the level we are expecting these two beast to produce.

It's probably safe to say continuity wise, these films fit better as Predator 3 and 4 than fitting anywhere in the alien films time span.

I dont know, but i havent really been excited about seeing a movie in along time. And this preview looks really nice.

I usually dont go in with high expectations anymore when seeing a movie - been let down too many times.

And the comment above about Fincher peeking with Seven and then Fight Club. Apparently you didnt see Zodiac, my friend.

Yeah I know. That was my point. There doesn't have to be one look or body build. I LOVE diversity in Predator and Xenomorph design.

< Still waiting for Female Predators.

Well look, I didn't have problem with the Predators in AvP. Each had his own look. That said I DID have a problem with the smaller heads of the Aliens. One of the most striking things about Giger's Alien design since day 1 has been their Phallic heads.

Just looks like Freddy Vs Jason but with Aliens and Predators. Which could be entertaining, but nothing that excites me.

Ranger 08-26-07 12:38 PM

I just came across the trailer. Whoo. Looks pretty sweet.

I'm not sure if I saw any invisible predators.

Mountain Biker 08-26-07 12:47 PM

Awesome trailer - I'll definitely be there opening day!

So...
Open presents...check.
Share some quality time with the family...check.
Head to the theater for some mind-numbing violence on Christmas Day.

Check.

;)

Yep. And I'm going to church right after ;)

Nice gory trailer - they're clearly distancing themselves from the first AVP.

There does seem to be an alien/predator hybrid in the trailer, and it's battling a predator:

The setting looks similar to the pic posted earlier by DarthVong.

Officially rated R for "violence, gore and language"

DRG 09-06-07 11:38 AM

I still think my ideal AvP movie would be a lone predator landing on a strange planet, and realizing his original prey (some sort of humanoid species maybe) has been decimated by aliens. Then he'd fight to survive. You wouldn't need any dialogue or even human characters, provided they adequately 'humanized' the predator as a character.

But this is at least a step in a better direction.

islandclaws 09-06-07 12:02 PM

My ideal Alien v. Predator film is still Predator<b>S</b> fighting Alien<b>S</b>. I hated the fact that we basically got one Predator fighting for all of AVP and now it looks as though it's one-against-many again with this film. I want a balls out war with Alien Queens, elder Predators, xenomorphs and some human fodder battling it out hardcore. Maybe not for an entire film, but at least it would make a nice balls-out ending. Regardless, this trailer makes the film look good enough, even though the use of "Silent Night" was a bit odd.

That movie would never get made.

Zodiac_Speaking 09-06-07 03:32 PM

AVP-R looks like the AvP film we should've got instead that turd Anderson gave us.

Can't wait.

Supermallet 09-06-07 04:20 PM

My ideal AvP film would be an adaptation of the original graphic novel, which was a brilliant piece of writing.

Artman 09-06-07 05:24 PM

I'd love to have one set in space or another planet... and to incorporate the Derelict.

Yavin 09-12-07 03:18 PM

Looks like they're delaying the release date from Christmas '07 to Jan 18 2008, where it will go up against a certain J.J. Abrams film code-named "Cloverfield" (source).

My Christmas plans are ruined!

Seantn 09-12-07 03:33 PM

Well that's stupid. I was going to see AVP2 on opening weekend, but I'm definitely seeing Cloverfield over any other movie on that weekend.

pinata242 09-12-07 03:34 PM

I skipped the first AvP based on reviews because I love the Alien movies so much, I didn't want to taint that. This, however, looks fantastic!

Artman 09-12-07 04:03 PM

I'd expect it to get moved again, depending on how impressive 'Cloverfield' looks.... Christmas was a terrible release date anyways, I don't think it would've done very well. I'd go with a Valentine's Day counter-programming release... I imagine they could come up with some funny tag lines.

islandclaws 09-13-07 11:52 AM

I don't like the push-back, but seeing this <i>and</i> JJ-saurus in one weekend would be pretty damn sweet. It's like a geek overload weekend with two potentially ass-kicking films on the same day.
