I agree, and I always think it's funny when people say they felt sorry for the guy who was a pedophile and a murderer.

I think that's the point of the scene. Not only is she trying to convince him it really happened, but it leaves us wondering if it was really happening the whole time she was doing it. I know I wasn't really sure until the reveal. She made it pretty convincing.

BTW, is it really necessary to spoiler tag a movie this old?

Do you want the possible pedophile to get his, or do you want the poor guy to escape from the psycho bitch, or do you just roll with the punches?
I suppose this isn't everyone's problem, but my problem is that I saw it at a screening with the writer and star there and the audience's reaction (and, during the Q+A, clearly the writer's intent) is that the girl is the hero and she is doing something heroic, and that it sends a positive message to young women about protecting themselves or something.

Well, like I said, you don't know until literally the last three minutes what he did and I thought he only watched and helped dispose of the body. Not exactly a Good Samaritan, but technically he isn't a murderer.

That's what he said, but according to her, that's what the other guy said too.

Either way, I'm surprised people saying they had doubts about him being a bad guy until then. He's pretty clearly trying to pick up a seemingly very young girl. Personally, I don't think she's supposed to be 14, but he thinks she is and takes her home. I did not find it at all ambiguous whether or not he's a bad guy, it's just the end of the movie where you find out how bad he is.

Very late to this party, but I'll chime in here with a 2 out of 5 rating.

Way too long, weak ending, unlikable "hero", bad dialogue. Had a few nice shots and lines, nice acting from the male lead, and potentially good concept, but mediocre effort overall. Would have been an entertaining short.

Watching Juno for the first time later tonight, I'm expecting Ellen Page to redeem herself in my eyes.

i picked this up back when it first released with no idea what it was about since i heard nothing about it and was generally surprised how much i enjoyed it. yes as stated it was a lil long but overall good.

the scary part at some point I started feeling bad for the guy which bothered me just a lil bit.

Just finished Juno. Way over-hyped, but average. I'll probably re-watch both these films with commentary at some point.

If he participated, even as a voyeur, he is legally culpable in most states under those circumstances as if he committed the murder himself.

She says that the other guy said the same thing, implying neither man was reliably "the guiltier party."

Well inhumane treatment shouldn't beget inhumane treatment.

I still feel that the girl will grow up to be just as demented as her vicitim, if she isn't already.

What I disliked about the movie was that there was no sense of conflict. When the guy was 'caught' Ellen Page had the upper hand for the entire movie. Even when the guy escaped for five seconds, you knew he wasn't going anywhere.

That was my main problem with it, although I did like the acting.

I was actually about to post the same thing as bluetoast. At no point is the guy in anything less than her complete control. Talk about boring. Although I do think the film is much more interesting if you look at it as a metaphor for watching an M. Night Shyamalan film (with Shyamalan being Page's character, of course).

well actually, there were a few times he could've just gotten away, but chose to go after her instead.
