My guess is that it was "resurrected" simply because the other thread was closed. I don't have any problem with this people using this thread to discuss the movie as long as they can do so in an appropriate manner. If thing start to go as they did in the other thread, then this one will be closed too.

Wouldn't I just love to introduce you to the concept of bears . . .

Why not? They're both practically the same - only one has gay cowboys, and the other has gay robots.

Mods: are we still allowed to say "Please do not post 'Please do not post 'In Before The Lock' Posts. Instead please use the Report this post to a Moderator link on the bottom of each post' Posts. Instead please use the Report this post to a Moderator link on the bottom of each post"?

Regardless I saw this two nights ago and I thought it was very well done. I can't say I enjoyed all of it (am I a homophobe for saying some scenes made me uncomfortable?) but I can say if it does win the Oscar I won't chalk it up to the vastly powerful gay agenda

edit: Oops, I guess we can't say that anymore.

Anthony Daniels was asked about that once. I forgot his answer. Funny.

R2 is DEFINITELY the bottom. ...although I'm not sure why anyone would think he's male OR female for that matter.

It's funny because hetero sex doesnt make me uncomfortable. Maybe it's just conditioning.

FROM THE PREVIOUS THREAD:

I just wanted to apologize for anyone I offended in the other thread making this comment. I've never been pointed out before as someone who caused a thread to be capped and I feel kinda bummed.

It just seemed as if most of the people posting over there were gay and I meant 'queer' in the most non-offensive way. Amongst my gay friends its a term tossed around pretty loosely but I can see how it may have been offensive to some out of context.

In any case, I certainly don't want to take anything away from what has easily become one of my favorite movies by taking this topic off the radar.

Please go see BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN!!!! There's a 50/50 chance it might end up changing your life!

Sometimes people can't just take a joke.

I remember some thread someone dropped the word ****** in a post and then some member said it was funny who I guess was black and then I remember reading like 2 pages of rolling laughter smiles and such. I think that was also the first time I really found smiles to be annoying.

I guess since some homosexual didn't say it was funny, they had to close the thread.

BROKEBACK RELATED: it's screen count on friday is going to be over 1,650 screens. wackiness.

My girlfriend wants to go see this... I don't.
My ex saw it with her new boyfriend... he liked it, she didn't.
I think I'm gonna get dragged to it... ugh.

Make a deal with her. Agree to go on the condition that she goes to see a movie with you that she is not interested in.

Cool to see that the film is doing so well and is now playing on a larger number of screens!

The gal who cuts my hair knows Emmylou Harris. I'm going to send word to thank her for lending her beautiful voice for a song in the film.

Wow! I miss one day and the "hot" thread is closed and we're back to this one. Oh well. Hey, remember Oprah is supposed to have a Brokeback Mountain themed show today. If anyone catches it, please post your impression.

But sometimes, seeing a really old hetero couple making out will make me uncomfortable.

That's the problem - she already complied by seeing Hostel. And there was that one time I made her see Weatherman with me instead of something she wanted to see and it sucked really bad... since then my judgement has not been as trusted. Damn you Nicholas Cage!

Oh poor baby.
I think a lot of guys would enjoy it if they didnt set themselves up to hate the film before they even enter the theatre.

You mentioned in the previous thread that your father is gay. Do you think this helped you relate to the film? If so, I'm curious about your feelings regarding the families portrayed in Brokeback.

I had a conversation with another gay guy last night who hadn't seen the film and doesn't really have a big interest in seeing it. All of his gay friends had the same opinion I did: well made but ultimately uninteresting. I've known guys who have seen it (age range 20's to 40's) and no one has loved it. Bottom line: overhyped. Personally, the only people I know that loved it (in real life) were straight women. But I did have a co-worker (straight woman, loves gay men) who went to see it the other night and thought it was just alright...and again, didn't cry or get emotionally affected by it.

I'm not trying to kabosh the movie but more your theory. This is the problem we had in the other thread. Just because you dont' like this movie doesn't mean there's something wrong with you or your attitude.

I think your right...everyone's perspective is different. I have some friends who watched it recently and didnt really care for it either.

Obviously, alot of people really enjoyed it. Then, there are those of us who could appreciate the quality of the film, but just didnt connect with the story.

Gee, funny how everyone around us that we know "in real life" echoes our own biases so perfectly. Everyone I know who's seen it has been moved beyond words.

True. Most of my friends probably mirror my conclusions due to our similarities.

Actually, I was surprised that my friend and his wife who just watched it this week even considered it. He is not very gay friendly. I think she made him sit down and watch it. They both said that it was ok, but not life changing for them.
