Anyone else think Mr. and Mrs. Smith is doomed?

Most of my area theaters have the matinees as the first show only or until 2PM. The only one that still has matinees till 6 is in the bad part of town and I wouldn't go there with free tickets.

I liked it. Although my heart sank when I realized the plot was extremely close to one of my screenplays(which I will now shred).
The only problem is the ending. I'm guessing it was reshot because

I really enjoyed the movie. I think that it went on about 15 or 20 minutes too long, with too much action towards the end that just was not remotely realistic (I am fine for suspending belief, but come on).
Anyway, I liked that there was a good amount of humor in the movie. I am also glad that Seth Cohen didn't have much screen time.

I saw it. Thought there'd be more gunplay and explosions. Still enjoyed the humor and movie quite a bit.

I liked it quite a bit. ***1/2 out *****.
Great chemistry between Pitt and Angelina. She looked smoking throughout. Vince was pretty good. It moved along at a nice pace, but started to drag a bit towards the end - I would say it was about fifteen minutes too long. I loved the final scene when he had a new answer to an old question.

Why would the cost of the movie affect the ticket price?
Universal makes a movie, they contract with the theater chain to play that movie in the theaters for a percentage of the ticket sales. Regardless of the movie's cost, the price the theater pays is dependent on how many tickets they sell (and at what price).
Now with a hot movie, a distributor can get a higher percentage of the ticket sales, but that's dependent on the movie's cost, either.
If anything is driving up ticket prices, it's the shorter theatrical window and the front-loading of audiences into opening weekends (when the theater's percentage is generally lower) which doesn't allow theaters to make as much as they could if the grosses were more spread out over a longer period of time.
Though honestly, theaters will charge whatever people will pay. If a revolution hit Hollywood and dropped the average cost of a movie to $20 million, the price of tickets at the theater would likely stay the same (and the profit margins at the theaters would likely be unchanged as well).
And back on topic, I enjoyed Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Found it to be a fun movie. Certainly not going to make my top ten of all time, but I'd sit through it again.

Great movie. One of the better summer flicks in a while and certainly another one in the "not disappointing" column that has been pretty full this summer...so far the studios are churning out some top notch product. The movie was light and fun, moved at a great pace and Brad & Angelina have great charisma and chemistry. I thought Vince Vaughn was hilarious and only wish that Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) could have had a little bit more to do... Liman didn't diappoint...here's hoping he's back for the sequel!

They set up Keith David as being a sort of "Mr. Big" (with that little reflection of him), and then there's nothing else about his character at all.
I understand if they had to cut his scenes in order to focus more on the Pitt/Jolie relationship (I guess Angela Bassett got cut too), but if they did that, why did they leave in that little scene of him as the boss?

Anyone think the therapist's voice was William Fichtner? Sounded an awful lot like him.

I saw the movie on Saturday and really enjoyed it.
I have a bad feeling that Fox is going to try to rip off the consumers when the DVD comes out. I can see them releasing a bare bones DVD and then several months later releasing an unrated special edition.

Fox has pretty much every new release on dvd to come out in barebones and if not at the time, eventually come out with a SE of it. They are in the market for heavy double dipping. It's not a rip off, it's just marketing.
