I agree, KillerCannibal. Besides, all that article mentions is that he has some ideas for moments and dialogue. Nothing about an actual plot or so much as a setting. That's basically about as far along as he'd gotten back during Spider-Man 3.
At this point, I think the closest we'll get to an Evil Dead 4 is all the Ash-related comics and crossovers.

Won't believe it till I see it...kinda wish it'd go back to the style of ED2 over Army of Darkness though...ED2 had a better balance with it's overall humor and horror.

ED2 was also rated X. Also, I'm not sure I saw the same ED2 as you did, since you seem to think ED2 contained horror.

well it's horror influence in that case. ED 1 would have been a lot better with a bigger budget..even than it was still good. Not scary by today's standards but still cool. ED 2 had the gore and creature effects with humor...and ED3 was mostly humor with cool effects.

well, if they are going to recast Ash (or if they go "son of Ash" route) the only person I would want doing it is Cheyenne Jackson. The guy is a dead ringer for a young Bruce Campbell, is a very good actor, and is funny as hell. (he's a semi-regular on 30 Rock).

With Bruce twittering things like "Go Diablo, go! Write like the wind!" it still sounds like an April Fool's Day joke to me.

If Raimi and Campbell are game for this by the hand of Cody...I'm going to trust them on this just a wee bit. I saw Juno, I like the film. Didn't want to see Jennifer's Body...heard it sucked...but...that's all I know about her.

I couldn't stand Jennifer's Body. I had to force myself to sit through 45 minutes of it until I could stand no more. Terrible piece of shit that was.

Official Press Release: The Evil Dead Remake
Ghost House Pictures has now officially announced The Evil Dead remake, which will be written and directed by Fede Alvarez and produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell. Here is the full press release:
Sam Raimi and original producing partners Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell (who also starred in the original franchise) are gearing up to remake their cult sensation THE EVIL DEAD through their long standing Ghost House Pictures partnership. Raimi and Tapert were such instant fans of Fede Alvarez’s short film “Panic Attack” that they set up a blind deal with the filmmaker and through that process have attached Fede Alvarez to write and direct the film. Alvarez wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues. Academy AwardŽ winning screenwriter Diablo Cody is currently doing revisions on the draft. Ghost House is committed to renewing the franchise and has the film on the fast track.
Raimi, Tapert and Campbell will serve as producers. Ghost House Pictures partners Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce. Nicole Brown and J.R. Young will oversee the project for Ghost House. Lionsgate will handle international sales on the film.
The three producing partners commented, "We are committed to making this movie and are inspired by the enduring popularity and enthusiasm for the ‘Evil Dead’ series. We can't wait to scare a new generation of moviegoers using filmmaking techniques that were not available to us thirty years ago as well as Fede bringing a fresh eye to the film’s original elements."
Raimi wrote, directed and, along with Tapert and Campbell, produced the original horror classic THE EVIL DEAD that tells the story of five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead. An archaeologist's tape recording reveals that the ancient text was discovered among the Khandarian ruins of a Sumerian civilization. Playing the taped incantations, the youths unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. THE EVIL DEAD spawned a franchise with the equally successful installments EVIL DEAD II and ARMY OF DARKNESS.
