I was hoping that with the new year they would have partied hard and forgot about doing this and moved on. Now this piece of shit is happening.

There's still hope that this may fall appart due to "creative differences".

Bruce Campbell @GroovyBruce 6m “@Azsunyx: What do you think of the changes to the Evil Dead remake?” FYI, there is a lot of false info out there. Wait, watch, be happy.

There's no way he will be able to capture the quirkiness, silliness, and charm that made the original so good. So why bother.

Jane Levy, Bruce Campbell Talk Evil Dead Remake
Very soon, filming will commence on Evil Dead, Fede Alvarez's remake of the Sam Raimi film starring Bruce Campbell. Recently, the redo - which saw Diablo Cody coming in to make a few revisions to the script - faced a bit of a casting switcheroo.
Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror, Priest) dropped out and Jane Levy (pictured) stepped in.
The Insider spoke with the latter about the film and below you'll find out what she had to say about the project and a brief, spoilery bit from Bruce Campbell himself.
"I'm so excited," , she said. "I'm a big fan of the original. To me it's the scariest movie, ever. But this one is really different. They've changed it a lot, but it's still a pretty gory movie. My mom probably can't see it. As for the tone, I think the humor in the first one came from the special effects of the time. I don't know that they meant it to be funny...this one is not funny. It's definitely dark."
The outlet also spoke to Campbell, who serves as a producer on the film. And while he didn't necessarily say anything new, he did confirm the evil trees will be back this time and "They're not terribly well-behaved this time either," he said.
Evil Dead will shoot in New Zealand for Sony. Lou Taylor Pucci co-stars. Expect more casting news soon.

I doubt we'll see any tree rape. Probably dismemberment like in the sequel.

At this point Raimi and Bruce can go fuck themselves. We all fucking know they could've made at least 2 cheap, legitimate sequels at this point. Fuck 'em.

Bruce Campbell Raves About ‘The Evil Dead’ Remake
Digital Spy caught up with Bruce Campbell and asked him some questions regarding The Evil Dead remake he is producing with Sam Raimi.
Here’s some of the interview:
You mentioned the Evil Dead movies earlier – there’s a new remake coming out…
“There is. We’re all involved as producers.”
How is it going to be different from the original films?
“There’s none of the original characters. We didn’t want to compare apples with apples. It’s a contemporary movie – just like Evil Dead was contemporary in 1979, this is contemporary for young adults now.
“It’s basically five new kids who are going to have a really bad night with a brand new director – Fede Alvarez, who was handpicked by Sam Raimi. I’ve seen it already; I think it’s definitely fabulous.”
Do you think the fans will embrace it?
“We’re really excited and really behind it, [but] it’s going to take a bit to get the Evil Dead fans behind it. We know we’ve pissed a lot of them off. We appreciate that and we appreciate their anger and their zeal, but the only thing we want to impress upon them is that we didn’t screw it up. This is going to be just as memorable as [the original] Evil Dead without being the same movie.
“You don’t want to remake something shot-for-shot. I can’t believe they remade Psycho - what the hell kind of a waste of celluloid is that? It’s a creative medium.
“The nice thing is the film looks beautiful. The effects are 10 times better than we ever had access to and the actors are all better than we were in 1979. Though granted Sam Raimi is a mad genius, so we got a crazy result like Evil Dead out of this amateur enthusiasm sort of thing.”
One thing I’m hoping for is a cameo from Campbell as Ash. Digital Spy asked him about it:
“I’m not at liberty to discuss that. But the thing is we want it to be a standalone movie. You’re going to have some references [to the original] in there and there’s going to be things the fans will enjoy as far as familiar aspects, but it’s a whole new ball game.”
If the answer was “no” wouldn’t he have just said “no”?
Don’t be coy Campbell!

I love Bruce, but he's so fucking biased here it's ridiculous to even ask him anything. Of course he's going to say it's coming along great.

Re: Evil Dead being REMADE....by Sam Raimi
I'm in the same boat as those who have been saying that they prefer an Evil Dead 4 over a remake. I definitely agree with that one. I'm indifferent about a remake, I don't really care too much. I'll definitely be seeing it, but my expectations are somewhere in the middle of the road. I always try to rid my mind of expectations when walking into movies because sometimes it can set a pre-determined verdict before the movie even starts. However, those who are on the fence about it will probably know where they land once all of the trailers are released.

Yeah I don't know about this either. I'd really rather just have a fourth Evil Dead over a remake too. I think Bruce could still pull it off well enough even though he's getting up there in age. Regardless I'll still check out the remake.
