Ugh. Stifler saying groovy? Freddy versus Jason versus Ash sounds brilliant compared to this.

he's good at mugging which is necessary for this character... still, I have to hold back the bile that's involuntarily coming up from my stomach into the back of my throat.

COULD THIS BE THE NEW ASH?

Moviesonline is reporting via Dheatre.com that actor Seann William Scott may be tapped to play Ash in the Evil Dead remake that we reported on last week. Here is some of what Moviesonline found out:

It is now being reported by Dheatre.com that actor Seann William Scott is in the running to play Ash in the re-make of Evil Dead. I am not sure whether this is good or bad. I still want Bruce Campbell to play the role, and I dont think anyone can replace him in this role. Seann is a talented actor who plays good quirky roles, but please, nobody can top Bruce Campbell.

Please, can we close this thread now? I really didn't need to see this shit...........fuck, I really wish I didn't read this.

Stifler playing Ash!

I guess all you Evil Dead purists wish they would have done Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash instead now .

Yes cause we're all gonna see a movie that we don't want to see, then lie about it

Don't catch on too fast do you?

I think the main reason so many people hate this isn't because the movie is being made. I could care less about that. But if the Evil Dead name is going to be attached to something else, with the Ash character played by someone else, then how strange will it when Raimi makes Evil Dead 4 with Bruce Campbell? Bascially, I think this drives a stake through any chance of Evil Dead 4 happening, and quite honestly I at least want to see Campbell as Ash again, so the FvJvAsh sounds like an infinitely better idea IMO (I never had a problem with it actually).

So yeah...that's my beef. Groovy.

Worst idea ever.

Add Nicholas Brenden (Xander from "Buffy") to the list of actor who might play Ash.

Seann should not be Stiffler. Seann should start TARGETING more SERIOUS roles. Seriously, can't the man do another Stark Raving Mad? A film where he ACTUALLY SHOWED PROMISE of an actor?

Just cast Nicholas Brendan in the role and let's call it a fucking day, yeesh.

I think this will kill any chance of an Evil Dead 4 with Bruce altogether. Maybe that's even part of the point they're doing this. Milk some money out of the franchise without bothering to even use the principals to do so. Raimi can keep his schedule busy and still make dough off the Evil Dead name.
Raimi must not care a whit about what his audience/ fans want by going a way that has nothing to do with what built the franchise into a cult classic. Not once did I read any suggestions in the forums that they should make some remake rather than use Bruce as Ash and further the story. Evil Dead Lite is what this seems like. I hope it becomes an instant USA Network staple, never to be seen without commercials for posturepedic mattresses ever again.

Tapert Talks "Evil Dead" Remake

In an interview with Sci-Fi Wire, producer Robert Tapert confirmed that he and director Sam Raimi deliberated for a long time before deciding to redo their cult-favorite 1981 horror movie.

"It took a long time to get to the point where we wanted to remake it. The funny thing is, nothing is as you would expect. Our original investors and I think [original Evil Dead star] Bruce [Campbell] and myself were more resistant to remaking the movie than Sam." says Tapert who thinks that with Raimi and himself on board as producers, the remake will live up to fans' expectation.

Tapert says "I think Sam was really the one who said, 'Gee, I would love to give a new filmmaker an opportunity to use that title and use their skills to retell this in a new way for a new audience.' I talk to Bruce Campbell every other day, and he says, 'You should see the message boards and all of the stuff I get saying "Please don't do it!", so we're certainly going to have to tread carefully...

As long as we stay true to what was the original model of the first Evil Dead, which was that we want to hurt and punish the audience, then those who love it will be satisfied. We mean to bring that out to a whole new generation in something that honors all of the people that loved it and yet gives them a new and thrilling ride that they weren't expecting. That's the challenge, and hopefully if we succeed that's kind of the glory."

Well, with Seann William Scott possibly being cast as Ash, I think it's safe to say that they have succeeded.

Evil Dead ReMake

I was wondering if anyone has any inside knowledge about Evil Dead Remake,
I read about this on other sites, and has been confirmed by Bruce Campbell:

Role: Producer
Release Date: TBD

"The remake 'concept' has been getting a lot of feedback lately, and not all of it good. Folks can relax in knowing that we would never knowingly screw up the series. A remake will get made fairly soon, but there is no start date, no director and no script. Other than that, we're ready to jump into production!" -BC

and

"We don't really talk about [another] sequel too much 'cause Sam is too busy right now. It would all be kinda moot. But I think we're gonna do a remake. It'll be a whole new story, though. It won't be with Ash. It'll be the evil book, and it'll affect a whole new group of people in a different situation. More like a reinvention. A lot of people, they got really crabby on the Internet when they first heard that type of stuff. But, we would never do anything to insult them. The trick is to take that premise - and we think it's a scary premise - and use some cool modern day FX... so we won't have green garden hoses in the shots. We wanna make a flat out, scary-ass, un-rated horror film."

on IMDB the following information can be found:

Before the script is written, Raimi and Co. are on the hunt for a new director

Also rumors about a Sequel to Army of Darkness are stirring, just wanted to see hear everyones thoughts.

Feel free to move thread if necessary or was already created.

I never understood the reasoning behind this. Why not just give the fans what they want and make a part 4 already? I'm sorry but Bruce Campbell is Ash and without him in the role...there is no "Evil Dead", IMHO.

I think they should just go all out with it and get Uwe Boll to direct it. Kind of like the cherry on the whipcream on this turd of an idea.

The Evil Dead is the greatest 80s horror film only rivaled by The Shining. I'm not surprised hollywood going this low, i mean hollywood is rotting from the inside out as it is, afraid of supporting the young visionaries like what happened in the 70s and regurgitating remakes at this caliber. These remakes are never even equal let alone better than the originals.

Though what's more atrocious is the rumored Seven Samurai remake, with George Clooney. Why don't they just remake Citizen Kane while they're at it?
