Man, I forgot about the smelly rubber "book of the dead" version.

Also, I'm glad that I got out of collecting DVD's. Me in 2005 would have built out a similar collection.

Really? I'm a die hard fan of the original and thought the remake was a terrible idea, but I think the trailer was great. What about the trailer made it look like shit IYO?

Well, it certainly looks different from the original. That lost shot was very unintentionally comical.

Those that think that ED2 represents Sam Raimi's true vision for ED seem to forget that ED2 isn't even the sequel Sam Raimi wanted to make.

This is what he wanted ED2 to be but lacked the budget to make it happen:

I'm gonna see both but I think I'm more excited for the new TCM. The look (colors?) of the new one just doesn't scream ED to me but........I still haven't seen any footage for Chainsaw so who knows. Just talkin' out my ass again.

I'm one of the few that actually prefers The Evil Dead over ED2. I enjoy campy horror as much as the next guy but I think the first movie's seriousness is much more effective than part 2's campiness.

FWIW, I think the remake looks more in line with The Evil Dead. I'm more excited to see it than I ever thought I would.

I can dig that.

As I've previously stated. I'm totally game for this now. I was iffy when I heard about this but...from the trailer. I'm game.

It's ED...with a budget that Raimi could never properly get and then some. Let's see what this guy can do.

I hope its interconnected to Evil Dead 1,2 and Army of Darkness!!

This car was shown in the trailer!

A cool sequel to be! (possible Ash at the after credits!)

Didn't Bruce Campbell say he had a cameo as a mailman early in the movie? I doubt we'll get Ash in this movie.

I think he declined to cameo.

I dont think its a cameo...

From the trailer itself - this makes me wonder? and as you can see the parts where the car got banged up (from the previous movies) were visible in this preview:

I am still hoping its a shocking sequel at the ending.... than just a remake

Bloody Disgusting has postulated a wild theory that this could somehow be a sequel, but I'd say they're really stretching to make that work.

Still, I do think it would be cool if somehow it was a sequel and Ash showed up at the end. There'd be no good reason for him to be there, but it's a thought.

I would love for there to be a clever "surprise sequel" twist, but lest we forget, the car went back with Ash in Evil Dead 2/ Army of Darkness.

I will still hope for the best tho

Re: Evil Dead being REMADE....by Sam Raimi

that would be cool if this movie was as violent and gorey as it appears to be, then at the end, with only one person left alive, Bruce Campbell smashes the front door open wide, and says some cheeseball Ash line like "come with me if you want to survive this" then it goes black.

The only way an Ash cameo at the end would work is if he arrives (too late, of course) to discourage the kids he heard were headed to the cabin from disturbing the Necronomicon.
