Oh great, this brings back memories of neverending "Follow the stream!!" posts from haters back when Blair Witch was released. As a hiker, I can tell you that just following a stream doesn't always necessarily mean you'll get outta the woods, but that's another movie and a tired old debate so.....
Even if it didn't get them out of the woods, following the stream definitely would've kept them from walking in circles. This is Blair Witch's biggest weakness - the three people in it have to be dumber than a bag of nails for the movie to work.

It looks like a total bore to me, so i doubt that i'll even bother with this one....and i spoke with the manager of a local cinema here, it seems that the FEW that have seen it here felt the same after viewing it.

I didn't give a shit about the characters, and I'm glad the movie didn't try to convince me to. Yuppies=shark bait. No problems there

It was pretty tense and well done throughout. One of the better horror films of 2004. Not that there were many good ones

Saw it yesterday night and I also was taken back by the ending. I was like OH SNAP. Anyway, it was a good movie to watch while drunk.

I finally got to check this out this weekend and was dissapointed. I can enjoy almost any movie w/ sharks or dinosaurs (Carnosaur Trilogy?lol And this really looked great and I was really excited. While I do appreciate some aspects of the movie I think the best way to sum it up is INEFFECTIVE. The night scene was well done and somewhat scary, but in the end I didn't really care. There were a *few* chills w/ the skarks. Did they intend for us to be bored as if we were floating in the ocean? I relate to them because I did get bored, but didn't experience any of the fear they had. Yeah the acting was pretty bad but I didn't mind it until they started fighting and he was flipping out. That was embarassing....reminded me of the movies I made w/ friends in high school. There were only 4 of us in the whole theatre, my girlfriend and I, and two 50+ women who came in together......I could tell they were mad, they really reacted to the first Fbomb and I held the door for them on the way out and the one looked up at me with the most sad/mean expression as she said 'thanks', lol.
I usually find something to like in almost any movie, but this actually goes on my list of bad 'bad' movies....Good job on the ending though, even though it was depressing.

I do appreciate what was attempted, it had its moments, but in the end is ineffective.

Last night ABC had a special 20/20 about the couple that the movie's story was "based on." I found it by accident while channel surfing after that NBC dud, Hawaii. Very interesting program.

The Open Water story makes numerous changes and, of course, everything after being left behind had to be made up. I think the filmmakers should have said it was "inspired by a true story" rather than "based on."

Nevertheless, I liked the move (which I saw before I knew much about the real story) and found it one of the most tense films I've ever seen. I felt for the couple even if they weren't the most likeable pair in the world and I couldn't help thinking of my wife and me in the same situation even though it would never happen.

Anyway, the movie improved once they got in the water, but I felt it never lived up to the potential of the horrific thought of two people being stranded in the middle of the ocean. There was not much build-up of tension (a distracting soundtrack likely assisted in this), and the acting by the two leads was only fair.

That being said, it wasn't a bad movie. There were some good moments, and the ending was appropriate (how many times can you say that nowadays). It's just a shame because keeping the general plot and adding better character development, editing, directing, acting, and dialogue could have made this a classic. Instead, it's a missed opportunity.
Just watched it. This is a pretty accurate review. But all that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was low budget, and the scenes that weren't in the water showed this. Not a factor to me. I found the dialog to be pretty realistic for two average people in that situation. Even the blaming scene. I mean they had been stranded for about 12 hours at that point, freezing, starving, and worrying about living. You know it was going through their minds whose fault it was. And most couples would probably have this silly fight.

I felt it was suspenseful, but not really a horror film at all. It had some dramatic scenes, some paid off, some didn't, but it kept me on the edge of my seat. My biggest complaint, was the directing. It could have been so much more by someone else. The biggest problem being the not realizing Daniel was dead. Poor job of getting this point across. Seeing how not twenty minutes before they showed them both sleeping in the exact pose that he has when he was dead.

My biggest praise? The ending. I love any movie that goes against the happy go lucky Hollywood ending. I thought it was perfect having her choose her fate, especially the one she chose. Brilliant.

This movie was absolutely awful. How in the world this got pretty good reviews is unbelievable. No suspense, terrible acting..yes i know this was an indie film but...Dont bother even attempting to rent this.

The real question is was it the worse dvd you ever saw? Cause if you want to talk about the movie.. Movie talk maybe the better outlet to vent your internet rage against the movie.

No, the question is: have you ever seen House of the Dead?
