The trailer is awful.

But at least it looks better than the first Resident Evil and a lot better than House of the Dead... but it's no Dawn of the Dead remake...

ahhh thank you, i know that's what he was made for. Was he a Wesker creation or was that RE2? I get them all confused with the storylines heh. Don't remember him talking in the game but that's probably because i havn't played them in ages

I thought the first one looked terrible, and I loved it. This trailer looks much better than the first, so I'm there opening night.
Oh yeah, Jill is quite hot, pak-chooie-unf.

Im down because some behind the scenes footage that was up on the net awile back looked promising, but the hand to hand stuff looked weak and that running down the side of the building stunt looked better in Universal Soldier.

I'm trying to remember if it was the thing relentlessly following me around and crashing through walls, scaring the shit out of me. Definitely had a rocket launcher attached to him. It would also charge you and take big swips at you with it's razor arm. I remember something about a train platform too. Ahh, the good old days.

Well, I've played and beat all the major Resident Evil games (RE1, RE2, RE3, RE0) but I still can't keep all the story lines straight. Someone needs to write up like a brief overview of the plots for each one.

Btw, this trailer makes me NOT want to see the movie now. I was looking forward to it too.

Anyone know if the new DVD for Resident Evil will include a free ticket? Cuz that's about the only way I'm going to the theater for this one.

Well on the plus side, it looks a lot better then House of the Dead.

On the Negative side, that's about the only thing it does look better then.

I'd discuss my thoughts on the movie some more but i gotta go run down a building.

It looked ok. However, there is hope. The 1st Spiderman 2 trailer looked like shit, and we got a slightly better flick out of it.

It looks like shit. I wish they'd take the name Resident Evil off of it so that one day they can make a movie actually based on the game.

Other then the names I dont see how they're related

Light summary of each game:

RE 0: Takes place before the incident at the mansion, beginning on a train with Rebecca and new character Billy who has a hidden past, heading to mansion, learning bits and pieces that build up to the original RE.

RE: Begins inside the mansion after being attacked in the woods. Wesker, Barry, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine are the main characters. You go through the mansion, reading memos and happening upon crazy shit, learning that experiments have been going on there, and that you may not be able to trust everyone around you. Ends with destruction of the mansion, and a scattering of the S.T.A.R.S team.

RE 2: My favorite game of the series, takes place within Raccoon City after RE, as either Claire Redfield or police officer Leon Kennedy. The T-virus has spread through the city, so there's zombies everywhere. You learn about the scientist who created the virus, and the corruption in the city(surprise). Encounter some crazy mutations as you go through the city, police station, sewers, and underground lab. At one point you are chased by a huge cloaked creature only known as "Mr. X".

RE 3: Begins day before RE 2, and ends day after, playing as Jill Valentine. The city is overrun with zombies, and a creature called Nemesis has been sent in to annihilate all S.T.A.R.S members. Pops up at random times, utters "STAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSS" and blows rockets. Game ending is quite cool.

Code Veronica: Takes place in Europe and Antarctica, play as Claire again in search of her brother Chris in a prison, a military base, and a castle. Very long, fairly difficult game. Learn the background of some people behind Umbrella, and a familiar face returns to smite Chris.

Survivor: Stay away. Stay far away.

It would be nice to have a movie based more on the game, but I would never expect Hollywood to do that, so I'm going to do an RE fan film of my own, w0000.

The original movie was better than I expected, and this looks to be about the same. Cheesy dialogue, but some nice set pieces. I'll check it out on dvd, but doubt I'll go see it theatrically.

I have never played or followed the games but I think that trailer makes RE2 look like a good action movie.

Looks like a crazy action movie. I loved the first one... I'm losing confidence in this one after seeing the trailer. I was kinda disappointed anyway when Anderson didn't return to direct... this is a first-time helmer directing this - although his resume is fairly impressive. We'll see.

These movies should have been fairly straightforward in turning into a movie. The style, hell even camera angles and characters were in the freakin game. That's what we wanted to see...why do they have to make heavy metal version! Argh!

Now, the first flick was ok...quick beaver shot of milla, a couple mediocre scenes, and not nearly enough zombies. Actually, not a single zombie munching scene! That pissed me off.

The problem is that they're making action movies. While Resident Evil games were never top on dialogue and voice acting, they had great atmosphere, great set design, great sound, and were often times scary. These are just action movies with monsters and retain none of that atmosphere. Fortunately the first was at least a mediocre action movie, but my hope that they would get away from the rock music is...seemingly...not going to happen. God these could be good!

I'll still stand by and say the first should have been the romero script.
