What the hell kind of Alien is that at the very end - looks like a possible Alien/Predator hybrid

Go to the site and check out the cast and crew info (under the synopsis). Lance Henriksen (sp?) is playing Charles Bishop Weyland. Isn't the company in Aliens called Weyland Yeutani? Maybe I'm reading to much into it, but it seems pretty cool. I can't wait for this movie either.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Charles bishop is the company's main head and that is why the driod bishop looks like him remember alien3 as well?

So is the Charles Bishop character in Alien vs Predator the same character as in Alien3? I wasn't sure where this Alien vs Predator flick fit in the Aliens timeline.

He wasn't an android in Alien3!! Er, maybe he was. Who knows, just another f'ed up thing with Alien3

Well he was.. as half of a busted android. ;) but then again the one that came out could have been a clone since didn't he bleed?. who the hell knows. Fast is this one in AvP is human (or is he?) :p

Not to threadcrap or anything ;), but has Paul Anderson ever made a good movie?

I like Resident Evil, but I know I'm in the minority there. Mortal Kombat was enjoyable if utterly forgettable. Soldier and Event Horizon were both crap, however. I just hope Resident Evil: Apocalypse doesn't suck...

Paul Anderson gets a lot more crap than he really deserves. He makes entertaining movies sometimes, sometimes crappy movies. Not the worst thing to ever happen to cinema like some people make him to be.

- Charles Bishop Weyland is human. H-U-M-A-N human.

Aliens
- Bishop is a robot. R-O-B-O-T.

Alien 3
- The Bishop shown through the first half is a robot. When Bishop II comes for Ripley and the Queen Chestburster, he is H-U-M-A-N.

This movie has to be after Alien 3. Bishop just looks way too old now to be pre-Ripley. Also, Bishop in Alien 3 was the original.

No, this movie takes place in present day earth, or the near future. Regarding the Alien 3 discrepancy...yeah it's a snafu and kind of confusing. But it's interesting to note in Alien 3, after bishop gets smacked with a gun, his ear sort of just hangs off his head in a unnatural, unhuman way.

Nonetheless, eitehr bishop in Alien 3 was not human, and not a normal droid, or there's just a big continuity error. But no, this movie isn't post alien 3.

This movie is pre-Alien, like jaeufraser states, and is meant to tell how the Weyland Corp. first learns of the bug. I think the Predators may get their asses kicked (though not easily) in this film since the Weyland Corp. was interested in the "bugs" and not the Predator technology. Then again, maybe they were after both and Ripley only learned of one of the company's endeavors.

As for Alien 3, Bishop II was a human as was shown in some delete footage where he yells something along the lines of "I'm not an android" after getting his ear knocked off. So he's either a decendant, a clone or a super advanced droid made to look like Charles Bishop Weyland for no other reason than all of the Bishop droids do.

As for Lance looking older, let's just say Charles Bishop Weyland prefered to be immortalized in one of his younger forms rather than the old man he eventually became. ;)

One thing I hate about action/horror moviesj is how they kill off pretty mus everyone in the cast. With that said, Il bet we end up with either 1 human(probably a female) or a 1 male and 1 female once the credits role.

I wonder if we'll see human/predator cooperation? It happened in a few Dark Horse comics.

I guess that explains why when he gets whacked in the side of the head his ear sort of splits off revealing robot insides. ;)

ETA: I just saw the other comments about Alien 3. I never for a moment thought that that was a human. It was clearly (to me) a ploy by the company to win Ripley's trust.

Regardless, this trailer looks terrible. Anonymous action movie cliche boredom.

Get over it. Bishop in Alien 3 was human. He was always intended to be human. Getting smashed with a large heavy object the way Bishop was hit would make anyones ear appear injured. Also, it was blood that was coming out of him. If your panties are still in a bunch then listen to the commentary track on the quadrilogy dvd. They confirm it and explain the ear thing. End of discussion.
