My first clue was when they listed an editor in the credits.

Just because YOU think it is a POS doesn't mean other people can't. I'm sure there is plenty that you like that other people would think is complete shit. I loved the movie.

Sorry, i stopped reading after this part, "I happen to be one of those people who enjoyed some of Paul W.S. Anderson's earlier films.."

You must have a very rich and satisfying life....

Original Desmond 08-25-04 07:13 PM

no doubt there is lots of cut footage

Jackskeleton 08-25-04 08:11 PM

but I really have doubt that any of those cut scenes will make the film any better.

PopcornTreeCt 08-25-04 09:04 PM

Cut footage? Probably. Enough to generate an R rating? Possibly. Better movie? No.

jarofclay73 08-25-04 09:21 PM

In this kind of film, you have to turn your brain off and throw the logic out the window.

Jackskeleton 08-25-04 09:28 PM

To bad you also had to turn off that side of your brain that actually knew anything about the two creatures because it really went against those rules established in those franchises.

Did I have to say you have to think the movie is a POS? NO, I said the movie was a POS, thats my opinion.

Every movie that has ever been made is cut. Its called editing. Since they don't shoot films sequentially, there is always extra footage that doesn't make the film. Otherwise, every movie would be 5 hours long and have lots of unintelligible nonsense.

Great investigative work!!

Professor Frink 08-26-04 12:39 PM

Let's all remember one thing -- no matter how much this movie sucked, we should all be hoping and praying that it is profitable. Because only then is there a chance of an Alien 5 being made (possibly with Ridley Scott!)

Boy talk about a double edged sword. We hope and pray that AvP makes bank so Alien 5 gets the greenlight with Scott. However, it JUST might convince the studio that AvP was actually a good movie, and they'll give the greenlight to Anderson for AvP2.

Playitagainsam 08-29-04 07:02 PM

now THAT's a ghastly thought... :(

Hmm...I don't know if I could have dealt with Ben Affleck starring in this.

dhmac 08-29-04 11:46 PM

Yeah, I'm sure it was cut too. And they really could've improved it a lot by cutting out another 101 minutes.

Actually, I'm one of those who would love to have movies be 5 hours long. And I'm betting that there would be less unintelligible nonsense than there is in this 101 minute movie (and countless others). It is all in the pacing, which AVP completely lacked.
