The music selection was a complete stroke of brilliance. The guy always has kickass music, but he may have outdone himself this time.

Your numbers are faulty. I see that you got those numbers from IMDB.com (or I assume so anyway).

Those are gross (cumulative numbers).
RIGHT. And yet, the second week's take is still highest than the first week -- I think everyone else pretty much figured that out.

Oh, and in hotness...

QT might have put the scene in B & W for the MPAA but he would not have kept it in there if the thought the movie sucked because of that, he will compromise the editing, I do not think he would compromise his movie, he cares to much for the process. The b&w still held me and I enjoyed the scene tremendously.

I guess you glazed over the fact that I said you were right about Titanic making more in its second week than its first.

Also, The Others added 500 screens in its 2nd week, so that doesn't really count since that's not what I was looking for.

"The music selection was a complete stroke of brilliance. The guy always has kickass music, but he may have outdone himself this time."

The only time I was upset with the music was how loud it was when Uma
rolled up to the ***** wagon and smiled and then the next scene, the music was gone after being very, very loud 1 second before. A total drop out in the middle of the song, it seemed.

I noticed that part too. If I remember correctly, the music cut out right at a reel change. That sounded strange.

Didn't the music end abruptly on more than one occasion? I seem to recall at least two occasions (but can't remember what parts exactly).

damn. after all the talk on here i was expecting a kick ass movie.
i won't say it sucked, but it was completely boring. maybe i knew too much but i did find things i knew about beforehand entertaining. it had some cool parts but dealing with the rest was getting to be nearly unbearable.

i guess my main fault of the movie is a i knew 100% it was a movie. everything was just too artifical for me. it instead of being like that's a cool place i was saying that's a cool set.

i must admit i'm not too knnowing of all the refrences but for me i would of rather been watching the originals since they were just what they were instead of just trying to be a wink and a nod to tons of other things.

i wish i had held off, like i usually do, and just rented it. i think i might enjoyed it more at home and without all the current hype. i still want to see vol 2, so like i said it wasn't all that bad (but i did actually want to leave out of boredom, but then the walking out thread popped into my head so i stayed.) maybe i can like it more within it's final complex.

oh man, whose hot and whose hotter? i don't care. i just wanna get with gogo.

I've been often reading lately how Tarantino is in a corner of not being able to live up to his past work which he will always be judged by. After seeing Kill Bill tonight, this does not apply in the slightest.
For the entire running time, especially the "Man from Okinowa" and Oren's lounge battle, I was continuously blown away by what I was seeing. Granted, I'm not familiar with ANY of the films that QT has referenced, so many were new and engaging for me. The sillouetted sword fight as well as the snow-dusted garden with Oren literally made my jaw drop in response to its beauty.
I suppose I could say the same thing about the freeway chase in Matrix Reloaded, but that would be a gross misrepresentation. That was just eye-candy, while for Uma's Bride, I felt an incredible amount of emotional investment. Each situation she was in was intensely serious. At the start of each fight, I got a knot in my stomach, as if I really frightened how this would turn out.
I would have preferred the crazy88 fight in color, mainly because I felt like I was missing something from those great shots of Uma running up the stair railing. Aside from that, I could see some potential reason for the switch. I thought maybe Uma went into some sort of 'kill mode' beyond her 'Ironside rage,' allowing her to slice away without an ounce of compassion or fear. Then when she blinks back to color, she realizes that she's back in a real world where she may not be invincible. Just my take on it.

Where was Twisted Nerve featured before Kill Bill?

Can we please give the B/W argument a rest already? Would I have liked to see it in color? Sure. Did it take away from my experience? No. Overall, who cares? It was a good movie either way, and I'm sure that some day we will get to see it, it's just a matter of patience.

Interesting how everyone has to let one thing in a movie drag it down for them. With Matrix Reloaded, it was the rave scene. With Hulk, it was the CGI. With Phantom Menace, it was Jar Jar....okay, I understand Jar Jar, but still....

At the beginning of Kill Bill: Volume 1, there is text that said something like "The Fourth Film from Quentin Tarantino". What will be at the beginning of Kill Bill: Volume 2?

"The conclusion of the Fourth Film from Quentin Tarantino"?

Question about missing 'gore' shot

Spoiler:
When The Bride bites off the lower lip of Buck, was that scene filmed 'complete' or is this another scene that got truscated for the sake of an R-rating, the way it is seen in the film it is very distracting

I wasn't sure how she
Spoiler:
killed him anyway. i mean, we see something that looks like bitting his toung or lip, and then the next shot we see his shrit covered in blood.

and wouldn't the foot shot be an insert shot? thats where they used someone elses foot and just matched the shots together. When she did finally did move the big toe, someone in the audience clapped.

Something interesting:

Spoiler:
The scene in which the redneck is going to try to have his way with The Bride has the camera follow him to the point where he is about to begin then pans away. This shot is almost identical to the shot in Reservoir Dogs where Mr. Blonde is approaching the cop with the intent of cutting off the ear. Only difference, this time, the gruesome act is prevented with another one!

Spoiler:
well as I interpret it, she basically rips off his lower lip and with any head induced assault (and in real life) blood bleeds like a motherf**k so I guess he just doesn't die, he goes into shock and passes out... I don't know the scene just plays out slightly wierd.

Twisted Nerve was in, well, Twisted Nerve. It was a British psycho killer flick -- with Hayley Mills! -- from 1968.
