This was a very good year for tear-jerkers as many made my favorites of '98:

Elizabeth - This DVD has been watched many, many times!
Saving Private Ryan
Shakespeare in Love
The Thin Red Line
Life is Beautiful , I believe all of these were nominated for Best Picture that year!

Dangerous Beauty - simply outstanding!
Central Station - saw this one on a plane home from Hong Kong - very, very good.
Slums of Berverly Hills - Great comedy!

Saving Private Ryan.
Overrated? Yeah -- but still the best of the year.
