my turn...

i am quite torn between my one and two picks, but since i can rewatch 1 more than 2, i have given it the edge:

1. OUT OF SIGHT
2. Thin Red Line
3. Elizabeth
4. Rushmore

unseen (but on the list):
American History X

Wow, this year is very very hard for me... and as a result I can vote for nothing.

Rushmore is a film that's a total personal vision, very well made and flawlessly executed. Incredibly original and smart. However, I have no desire to see it again, because it just comes off as far too juvinal.

Thin Red Line just, I'm ashamed to admit, bored the hell out of me, I kept waiting for it to end. I want to give it another chance though, I think I was very very tired when I watched it. And there are other films that are very great, but tend to be a little long (like 2001)

American History X is very very very well done, but it disturbs the hell out of me, and I have never been able to watch the whole thing, so I don't think it's fair for me to vote for it.

Saving Private Ryan, I haven't seen the entire thing, mostly because I have a problem with any movie that shows WW2 in europe and yet never seems to even emply that there were other europian countries fighting there! I don't mind it much at all in South Pacific war movies, because I know that it was very isolated there... and you're never going to see every single army... but if you're fighting in Europe... maybe you might see some Europians! it drives me crazy! I'm sure it's a good movie and all, but since every single movie seems to do this, it drives me nuts. I'll see it eventually though.

Dark City I really love, but I don't think I could vote it top movie of the year...

Ronin is the same thing.

Run Lola Run is the same thing again.

I own Big Lebowski, haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Maybe tonight.

JonTurner, if it's not too much trouble, please change my vote ... I split my vote between X and TTRL ... in retrospect, I would like to give the whole thing to Rushmore. Thanks!

Even with das' vote change, SPR has pulled into a big enough lead to close this one!

1) Saving Private Ryan (37.5 votes)
2) Rushmore (30.83)
3) The Thin Red Line (20.83)

Thanks for all the participation - THIS ONE'S CLOSED!!!

well that's just depressing. Can those of us who voted for TTRL change our votes to Rushmore?
