With only 3,000 made, now is pretty much your last chance to get in on it I'm assuming

excellent pictures!!! each set of pics makes me anxious to get my set more and more (it's in the mail, now i REALLY REALLY can't wait!!!)

did you take those pics yourself? if so, how'd you get the white background, do you have like, a dvd photo room where it's all white with a shiny table so you can take beauty shots like these ones?

My wall's white and so is the table. No special setup. Fluorescent daylight table lamp and room ambience lamp. Table lamp light hits the wall. Just shoot with the exposure taken from the product and everything else is overexposed. In PhotoShop, just duplicate the image layer and set blending at overlay. Wa la! The black plastic box is harder to shoot due to the high reflection. So, put a BIG piece of white card to reflect the reflection so that the embossing of the title stands out.

Shot with a Nikon CoolPix 5000 without flash (I hate flash). Basically, shot in ambient fluorescent light. On a tripod, of course.

As for the DVD, HK$875 including shipping is kinda expensive if you consider or compare with trilogy DVD sets like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, The Godfather or even the Alien Quadrilogy box set.

Can someone explain part 3 a bit to me?

Spoiler:
Andy Lau was called Inspector Lau in the first two films and then he was referred to as Ming in the 3rd. I think I get everything that happened if the name thing can be explained and Andy just kinda went crazy at the end or something. Is that about the long and the short of it? Other than that, I got all the time shifting and stuff and I thought it was really good

Did anyone received shipping confirmation from dvdasian.com?
I preordered 2 copies more then a month ago and can't get a satisfying answer from them.

Also I did not get the 2005 calendar or promo posters and they say it’s random but I have email another e-store and they say every one comes with the 2005 calendar and promo posters.
Anyone got their set from DDDHouse with posters and calendar ?

Yeah, it really irritated me that they 'changed' his name from "Lau" in I and II to "Ming" in III. Even though I knew his full name, after watching the first two parts under one name, to switch was confusing. For the subs, at least, they should be consistent.

Does the box-set version of IA I contain extra film footage not in the standalone version?

Also, as films, how are IA II and III compared to IA I?

Can you tell me if they put signature confirmation on it or not? I know with Oldboy they did, and it was a bit of a pain, since I had to go to the P.O. to pick it up.

Hrmm. Could someone possibly let me know how the subs are on these releases? I was thinking about getting the Tartan releases, but it'd be around $70ish in US, with shipping and such, just for the first two. For around $100 with shipping I can get this set. The major thing I'd miss would be the translated commentary on IA 1 Tartan. However, with the cost bits I'm really tempted for this set. My only concern is that the Tartan subs might better enough to go for them instead. I've read that the HK release (and this is assuming the DVDs in this set and the ones release individually before are one and the same. I read it somewhere.. I believe DVD Debate) has "adequate" subs. So, does that mean overly simplistic sentences that get the general point across but not any complexities? Or is it more than that, but with some grammatical errors and the like. If anyone has both the Tartan and the HK IA 1, I'd really really really appreciate some sort of commentary on this.

And just as a general note regarding DVD sites in general, I find it frustrating how vague many are regarding subs on foreign releases =\ Maybe it's just me, but I care more about their accuracy than some slight color variation that pops up for .3 seconds in some portion of a film. Subtitling reports deserve equal billing. The most frustrating is when they don’t mention them at all. Bleh. Rant over.

Okay... but that's about $30 too much for the Tartan's. With discounts from cd-wow, it would be 24 pounds for both shipped to the US.

Oh? That was from Amazon UK. I cannot seem to find the Tartans on CD-Wow, only the new HK set and some older HK releases. Perhaps I'm missing some navigational aspect, could you provide a link?

They go in and out of stock frequently, in fact, most DVDs on the cd-wow sites do. Patience pays in these situations.

Righto, thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye out. Oh, also, those discounts you mentioned.. are they coupon related or stuff that's automatically docked off?

Some are vouchers that take 1 pound off every item on the site and others are e-voucher codes (coupon codes) that you can use at checkout to take more off your order. I would place two separate orders a few days apart to take maximum advantage.
