just placed an order. I've got the current boxset for 2 & 3, but never had any edition of 1 ( I borrowed my brothers normal edition). I heard there was a boxset coming out but then it went quiet for awhile. I hope that my name is put on the front, that while be cool.

Bosskmr 11-06-04 07:10 AM

How much is this boxed set? And where did you order it?

Romerojpg 11-06-04 08:23 AM

Yes where do you get it? and I own all the films but havent even bothered with 2 and 3 yet, maybe time to watch my L.E. sets after all :)

candyrocket786 11-06-04 09:44 AM

www.thedvdetective.com will have it up for preorder sometime today.

flashburn 11-06-04 11:50 AM

Damn, that is hot. I need to watch IA 3 so I can decide on whether or not I should sell them off, and pick up this box.

I don't know that this is necessarily the best price (I haven't checked all my regular HK sites yet) but it's about USD109.00 here:

So, just to be sure I've gotten this straight, the box contains the first 6 discs that were already available separately in the individual 2-disc sets for each movie, plus a new consolidated miniseries-type edit of the three movies combined together (I assume in chronological order, a la "The Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980")?

Yes, except this time around IA I, II, & III are suppose to have better audio/video transfers.

jdslater 11-07-04 07:20 AM

I got mine from dvdasian for $99.99. Josh Z is correct about the edited version. I cannot really complain about the transfers of the originals so I would like to see what they do with them this time around.

Bosskmr 11-07-04 08:29 AM

I ordered at DVDAsian as well

Anyone know if the special features will have subtitles?

flashburn 11-07-04 11:12 AM

Also put in a preorder at DVDAsian. I plan on watching IA3 in a couple of days, and if I dislike it, I will just cancel my order.

candyrocket786 11-07-04 01:21 PM

thedvdetective.com has it up now.

Brain_F15ting 11-07-04 06:28 PM

dang I wonder when yesasia will get it. Does anyone else know of any VAT-Free online retailers for asian dvds?

I don't think most Special Features have subtitles.... but I'm hoping this does because it'll be no good cause I won't understsand it.

Can anyone confirm?

I wouldn't hold my breath... unless asian films are released in the UK, the extras are rarely subbed.

tinlunlau 11-09-04 07:27 AM

avbuzz.com has pics of the actual box set and pic of the menu screens.

candyrocket786 11-09-04 08:59 AM

Link?

I can't seem to find it. All I see are pics of some very pretty girls. :D

Linn1 11-09-04 09:40 AM

Sooooo.....

oooo, what does it say?

CrashMan 11-09-04 05:49 PM

Screen Shots at avbuzz.com (Scroll to the bottom)

Also... A friend who can read Chinese tells me the Chinese page at Layoyo.com confirms subtitles on the sup. material on the box set. It could be a mistake, but I think I'm going to take a chance and order it.

Edit:

But then this Info page from the UK says no subs. Crap, I thought I had an answer.

Josh Z 11-09-04 06:25 PM

This is a tough call for me. I love a good box set, but I already purchased the original three 2-disc sets for around $10 each, and frankly I'm not too keen on the idea of the chronological re-edit.

On the other hand, that box sure is pretty.

Aw hell, I'll probably break down and buy the damn thing...

candyrocket786 11-09-04 06:30 PM

So based on the dvddebate review....

- IA 1-3 Discs are the same as the existing releases.

Damn.... I was hoping they would fix the audio issue with part 3.

So the only reason to get this release is the chronological re-edit.

shit.

Sifu 11-09-04 06:52 PM

IA 1-3 Discs are the same as the existing releases.
They are not the same as exisiting releases. Where are you getting that?
