I'd say your money is going directly to the "owner" of the content moreso than the "creator."Originally Posted by DJariya

I spend so much less on physical media nowadays, so that makes it easier to spend a tad more on movies like this or Dogma.Originally Posted by Bluelitespecial

Yeah, it was a limited release. Not sure of the exact number. It’s a great movie and will be a cool collector’s piece. Originally Posted by JeffTheAlpaca

The Descent now list it's down to 459 copies. I don't know if they plan to keep it as a limited run or if it will be restocked.

On one hand, their name does say "limited." Which is why one should grab when available.Originally Posted by Bluelitespecial

But they're a big enough operation to restock easily.

- Includes 4K and Blu-ray™ Theatrical and Unrated Versions
- NEW FEATURES: This new 4K edition featuring Dolby Vision® includes never-before-seen 20th-anniversary special features
- New art from award-winning illustrator Matt Ryan Tobin captures the terrifying darkness and menace of the cave central to the film
- Ranked as one of the 25 best monster movies of all time by Entertainment Weekly
- Includes both rated and unrated versions
That being said, I didn't want to miss this one as it is one of my favorite horror movies in the last 20 years. The "rated" version with the bullshit happy ending doesn't exist to me.
I placed an order for it, Jacob's Ladder and You're Next!

Doesn't look so obvious to me. That could mean the 4K disc is the theatrical and the Blu-Ray is the unrated.
#63
The first line seems to indicate that it's both versions on both discs but if you zoom in on the picture with the discs, the writing along the edge of the 4k says unrated. I guess we won't officially know until we get it.

Quick question before I pull the trigger on The Descent (and apologies if I missed it being asked before): Is only the SteelBook release exclusive (meaning there'd be a standard case release available through Amazon)? Or is the 4K release as a whole exclusive to Lionsgate Limited?

AFAIK, every UHD release that premiered on Lionsgate Limited has been completely exclusive to that platform. They've had their own exclusive editions of otherwise widely available titles, and there are cases where Lionsgate Limited has an exclusive UHD version of a movie while a BD was widely available, but I off the top of my head can't think of a UHD release originating on Lionsgate Limited before going wide.Originally Posted by RocShemp

Not to mention, Media Mail isn't zoned, so it costs the same to mail to Puerto Rico as New York or Hawaii.Originally Posted by TomOpus

I too find it odd, but under their Shipping Policy it states:
Quote:
We do not currently ship to Puerto Rico, Guam, Palau, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Micronesia, Marshall Islands or Northern Mariana Islands

I don't get why there is no pre-order for Dogma 4k unless this is their version of a "Air Jordan" and bots will grab all the inventory once it gets posted on the site.

Umbrella announced from the jump that their release was gonna be Australia/New Zealand-only. Lionsgate has this one domestically.
