That's not the actual steelbook cover art for "Constantine" I believe. Amazon shows:

Ugh. Comic book art. That may actually be worse. Go back to the plain black cover!

Also, I haven't seen the movie in a while, but in that scene, was Keanu really reaching up to grab a tampon?

Apparently the CGI of Ian Holm has been fixed for the 4k release. I hope this is true.

Let's just hope it's not BS, like the "fixed" gunshots in the Atmos track of the 4K UHD BD of The Terminator.

I thought it was the most distracting part of the movie and he looked like an animated character. I hope it's improved.

I thought this has already been out for a while. Has no one here actually seen it and confirmed it?

It does look better - granted, I had no issue with the theatrical edition. The tweaks are subtle and they also tweak a bit of the lighting in the frame. There's a twitter compairson going around but they only compare the Blu-ray with the streaming. Screw that, the 4K is the way to go.

Please report back. I thought the Ash stuff was awful and took me out of the film every time he appeared. I just wish they had gone with a practical effect of Ash if they had to use him. Better yet, a practical, different android would have been even better.

It is always sad to me when you see the effects of robots in Alien and Aliens and they just trounce the effects of stuff today. I know studios like to save money, but would it really be that much more? If you compare the budget they used on effects back then, adjusted it for inflation now, and did a comparison on the budget for digital effects, I would be willing to bet they still spend more today. And the results are shittier 90% of the time.

Alien Romulus had a budget of $80 million. That's still a lot of money but modest by today's movie industry standards.

So is the disc “fixed” but the digital copies are not? I don’t approve of any changes after the theatrical release so won’t be buying the disc (not knowing this, I would have already picked it up if anyone in town were selling it!)

The cost of making movies has shot up exponentially, way faster than the rate of inflation. A lot of that is due to bloated star salaries. That this movie didn't have any really big stars in it is one of the reasons it was able to come in under $100 million.

However, a movie like this today has way more visual effects in it than Alien or Aliens did. The nature of today's digital-backlot productions for sci-fi movies means that practically every shot has some CGI element somewhere in the frame, even if you don't notice it. Between movie and TV productions, VFX houses are in high demand and most are overworked and stretched thin. Thus, they set very high rates for their work. And that work sometimes comes out substandard to what might be possible if more time and effort were dedicated to each project individually.

I'm about halfway through the movie but at the point where we see Rook and yes I'd call it an improvement. In theaters I thought Ian Holm's likeness was used to make a bad animated character. It took me out of the movie. Now even if it's a subtle difference it's a better mix of practical effects with Cgi. I'm glad it was fixed.

After getting done with my rewatch last night I'm glad I purchased it and it's good to have on my self next to the Alien bluray set. I still want Alien and Aliens in 4k but haven't got around to buying the discs yet. It felt a lot like "Don't Breathe" in space and major props to Fede Alvarez for fixing the cgi on Rook and being aware how bad it looked in the theatrical version.
