4K UHD disc problems

Re: 4K UHD disc problems
It's unfortunate when you have a legitimate problem with a disc that you receive such grief trying to return it. I guess some stores have a high number of scammers trying to exploit the return policies. Unlike a toaster, a disc is unique in that it can be copied perfectly (or the digital code can be discretely redeemed) and then the "defective" disc is returned for a full refund.
A big retailer like Wal-Mart should give the customer the benefit-of-the-doubt and allow at least an exchange for the identical product ... unless the client has a checkered history of constantly returning media.

Re: 4K UHD disc problems
My copy of The Last of Us: The Complete First Season arrived yesterday. Disc 1 had clear fingerprints and obvious smudges on the surface. Disc 2 has no blemishes but became a pixelated nightmare on my Panasonic DP-UB820, complete with audio drops, freezing, and random skipping. I wiped it with a microfiber cloth, just in case, but it didn't help. Even hit it with a little compressed air, just in case. Ended up getting it to play on my LG UBKM9 (amusing sing the Panasonic was purchased to deal with discs the LG couldn't play but the Panny can).
Since their automated system wasn't allowing to issue a return/replacement, I contacted Amazon via chat to get a replacement but they told me they couldn't because they weren't the vendor, even if my invoice clearly states they were. Whilst on the chat, I tried the automated system again and it suddenly allowed me to set up a return/replacement.
For those wondering, my set says it was made in Mexico (so it was probably manufactured in the infamous Vantiva plant in Guadalajara, Mexico).

2 or 3 years ago I bought a disc at Walmart and realized I bought the wrong thing. I tried to return it UNOPENED w/receipt the next day and the woman at the customer service desk wouldn't allow it. Claimed movies couldn't be returned. I just stared at her in disbelief and while I argued briefly, I didn't care enough to escalate. It was $10 and I just said I didn't want it and left it at the desk and walked away.
Here's what happens if I don't remove it:

Forgot to mention that last week I finally received a replacement copy from WHV of The Batman. Worked flawlessly.

How did you get in touch with WHV for disc replacement? Did you email them at [email protected]?

Re: 4K UHD disc problems
Today, outta nowhere my disc 1 of Zack Snyder's Justice League started pixelating, stuttering, and the audio going completely out of sync during the scene when Aquaman saves the sailor from the storm. I tried wiping and cleaning the disc. No dice. Interestingly, my Panasonic DP-UB820 has a harder time with the scene than my typically inferior LG UBKM9. The later only has a brief instance of mild pixelation during the scene in question.

Or I could take it to a crime lab in order to identify the culprit, without implicating them in a crime.
