The Official 88 Films Blu-ray Thread

Re: The Official 88 Films Blu-ray Thread
The Anaconda set should be region free since it is just a re-release of 88's box set from 3 years ago, which was region free. Anaconda is a Sony license, and until the last year or two Sony didn't require region locking. They've since changed that policy, unfortunately.
On the other hand, I wouldn't hold my breath for Species being region A compatible. It looks like a UK only release and it's an MGM license. Like pretty much everyone else at this point, MGM requires region locking.

Hopefully Righting Wrongs will be a North American release… I still have my Fox Fortune Star DVD release. One of the better HK action films. Yuen Biao is a total badass in that one.

BTW, here's the list of titles that Warner is sitting on, making promises, delivering little . . .

If you look closely at this image that 88 put on social media a while back, the paper has specs for Righting Wrongs and shows 3 versions.

Nice to see it includes the English version. Saw that on VHS somehow, somewhere a million years ago, but never owned it. That sheet doesn’t seem to say anything about regions, though. The last US version of this was Dragon Dynasty’s ABOVE THE LAW collector’s edition (I don’t remember is being part of the Fox line mentioned earlier). Anybody know what happened to the Weinstein licences for their HK stuff? I’m assuming they probably are still tied up somewhere, so the odds of this being Region A friendly are indeed slim.

This would lead me to believe that most of the former Weinstein controlled titles are up for grabs (Except the Golden Princess catalog, which is locked up in rights purgatory somewhere.), but 88 had yet to announce any of the Fortune Star stuff here in the US, so who knows.

More confirmation on the Tiger Cage trilogy. Not actually a 4K release apparently. Just 4K remaster.

For those that have not watched Tiger Cage, I highly recommend the first two films. I have yet to watch the third though. I’m hoping that 88 Films do a boxset of all 3 films.

Dragons Forever on UHD and region A blu-ray is a bit of a game changer. I want to support the venture, but I'm not sure I'm ready to start rebuying a bunch of titles.

Re: The Official 88 Films Blu-ray Thread
Seems to be some conjecture – which 88 Films will no doubt capitalize on – about whether this is an all-region set due to the lack of UK ratings symbols on the box. It boggles the mind somewhat that this series (or even the first two) was never deemed worthy of North American releases through the entire home video era; it would be a shame if it's UK-only, even though I'm sure it will sell regardless because there are plenty of newbies with FOMO who've possibly never heard of the films alongside the vets who've been craving a box like this for eons. Weird that the new art somewhat marginalizes the leads from the Part I, Jacky Cheung and Simon Yam, and omits Part III lead actor Michael Wong completely! Donnie, Donnie, Donnie!
Hope this is a sign that TIGER ON BEAT and YES MADAM sets will be available some day, the latter with all the films in the series and not just the best-known ones.

Tiger on the Beat was remastered recently as well. I think there are Germany releases slated for both Yes Madam and TotB... so hopefully the UK labels make something happen.

I know at least the first 5 In The Line of Duty films had remasters and a box set release is rumored to be in the works.
