If you're a fan of 80's slashers, you'll likely enjoy it. Though the pace is sluggish and the characters generally unlikable (except, crucially, Berridge), the supporting players are all superb, the atmospheric elements convince, and the disc itself is jam-packed.

I ordered a region free copy through the BOGOF sale too. After I received an email from Arrow I imagined them having a huge warehouse full of them, since several people here and on bluray.com have mentioned that they are getting the original version.

I was pleasantly surprised to find my Demons steelbook waiting for me yesterday - usually Amazon UK takes up to two weeks for delivery. A bit surprised at the skimpy booklet though - 12 pages on two movies?

Still waiting for mine. It's been 6 days.

Just got my Demons steelbook in the mail yesterday.
The films look great, but Arrow's encoding and mastering sucks. I mean this sucks on the level of releases we've seen from Echo Bridge Home Entertainment. I thought I was seeing massive amounts of DNR, but it's not. It's massive amounts of compression.
You restore the film from their original negative elements, but decide to give them video encodes of less than 13GB each? If that's the case, why did you put out multiple releases of this title? You could've slapped both films, plus bonus material, on a dual-layered disc and still have 15GB of free space left over! The Demons BD clocks in at 19GB whereas Demons 2 uses 16GB. Why even region lock it when you've gone half-assed on it?
Fuck you Arrow Video. Can we get another studio to grab the remastering work done and properly do an encode? What's Anchor Bay doing (besides nothing) at the moment?

There's nothing wrong with The Funhouse or Vamp. Pretty much every other release has had issues of one kind or another, though.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
With that said, you can add Obsession and Forbidden Zone to the list of films that had no issues...

Did Day or Dawn have any issues? Those are the only ones I have.

We should have some kind of list with all the titles and their known issues. I know I'm often leery of buying some titles because of their track record.

One of the big advantages for Arrow is that it's the sole Blu-ray source for some really notable titles, especially for genre lovers, that are unlikely to get any other releases. Isn't it Anchor Bay that has the Blu-ray rights for a lot of Arrow's Italian films? You can't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Arrow are doing another one hour sale on their website in about 50 minutes, 2 blurays will be on sale for £6.99.
ETA - it's Les Diaboliques and Obsession

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I've already got Blue Underground's release of Zombie, but depending on what Arrow does for extras, I may double dip.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I can't see myself double-dipping for Zombie. I guess if Arrow is able to add some really special extra features and somehow come up with a substantially improved transfer, I would consider it. Otherwise, I'm content with the Blue Underground release.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Wow!
I make my first post, and it appears to get deleted within minutes, because I linked to my own blog (which doesn't breach DVD Talk rules/regs as far as I can tell), and because I discussed the numerous Arrow screw-ups!
I didn't expect that...

Whatever reason your post got deleted it wasn't due to talking about Arrow....that would happen at cult-labs forum.

I'm not sure how/why it was deleted, but I think there is a rule about how many posts you need to have before you can have links.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I haven't seen one. I did watch my sets this weekend. I have to say that outside of the discs, the movies themselves really didn't hold up very well. I remember liking them when I first saw them on video in the late 80s (thanks to endless Fangoria articles and photos) but now, aside from a few genuinely terrifying images and scenes, and some cool looking shots, it's your basic nonsensical euro nonsense.
