But, at least we had people talking about the merits of the video presentation and sound presentation and how it compared to other releases, screen grabs and the like.

Now, you get a whole bunch of chatter about when you got the video, or where is the shipment, or when do you expect the shipment and the oh-so-precious comments on the condition of the steelbook edition when it arrived. You know, that overpriced edition that loses so much of its value the moment you open it.

Oh ... and maybe a couple of words burped out about the video itself. Maybe.

Excuse my candor, but ... a rather sad state of affairs.

I know what you mean. Especially with a new format I was expecting more opinions about upgrading. Or ones to avoid. When I jumped on 4k, I was hoping for some Top 10 lists of ones I could grab to start up my collection. I guess things change, so I've had to find reviews on YouTube.

Oh, and don't forget the borderline psychotic discussions about slipcovers...

The opinions on upgrading to 4K could probably be cut-and-pasted from most threads on the same topic during the transition from DVD to Blu-ray. There's probably no new insights beyond variations of "I want nothing but the best!", "I don't really see the difference." (Re: "Are you blind?!!!"), "I don't want to have to upgrade." etc.

Also extras either go missing (from the BD) or are just plain ports(includes the BD disc) so there's nothing to discuss there either.

Now down to $17.44

So I went ahead and got it. I hesitated a little because I already have it on BD and I didn't know if I wanted it bad enough to buy it right away.

But, the 4K transfer has gotten rave reviews and this was a price point I liked.
