There is also always the option of looking at the multiple pictures posted and seeing that there was no mention of a code on the packaging.

Damaged product is damaged product. Bigger flimsy boxsets with dents can still contain perfectly intact movies on the inside, hence where the lack of care can come from with those, and the vast majority of people don't give a damn about the minuscule indentations that can form on their slipcovers or digibooks because of those. This, on the other hand, is plainly listed as being a displayable collector's item. It's as simple as advising the employees to not put the extra effort into spider-wrapping, which, at least at my store, seems to have been largely fazed out anyway.

Of course, these sets not having the sensors on them could boil down to the simple fact that it'd take up a whole lot more space.

Yea, I didn't get a chance to open it yet but it feels heavy and durable. Now I hope we get a release that matches for S2.

just bc there is no mention doesn't mean it's not there. this is a true to form VHS packaging set and as we all know, VHS never or seldom had extras...

It seems like a lot of Netflix shows skimp on the extras. Disappointing but not surprising.

Yeah, I think you're right. At least the sets that I had from them (Dexter, Shameless, Weeds) I don't recall many (if any) extras.

My store had a ton of copies, maybe 50. But no extras, and little chance of us cancelling Netflix? I'll return it.

just brought this home and yeah, this looks nice in with my horror shelf, but i have Netflix, would rather stream, and with no extras, the discs wouldn't see the light of day. i have been known to be frivolous and it is only $25, but still not sure if i just want a decoration piece...

Semi-related question. There are a ton of 2 disc DVD only sets on ebay. All those all bootlegs? I'm not aware of any official offering of S1 on DVD other than this Target set.

re: Stranger Things. 10-17-17. In a VHS box. (Ultra HD Blu-ray on the way!)

I ordered this from Target's site, but now I'm starting to sort of regret it. The lack of any extras is sort of a big thing for me. It's exactly what I can watch on Netflix, pressed to disc. Nothing else at all.

The packaging is really neat, but also huge and just one more thing I'm going to have to store. Also, Disc one apparently has trailers before the menu that run for half a dozen or so minutes, and for some reason they disabled all button inputs during them. So not only can you not skip them, but can't fast forward either. I don't really want to deal with that on every rewatch. (Also, one of the trailers is for Season 2, so if you're someone watching this for the first time, oops!)

My order hasn't shipped yet, but changed to "Shipping Soon" which apparently prevents me from cancelling. I guess I'll have to decide when it gets here what I'm going to do.

They had a shitload of these at my Target by work.

I think the packaging is awesome, but I'm not dropping $25 on 8 episodes of something I can stream in 4K. And just recently re-watched.

If this is on sale during BF for $10 or less I'd get it.

I picked one up after lunch today. There were a bunch on the usual new release shelf in the front of the media section. When I was waiting to check out, I noticed there were even more stuffed in an area by the checkout stands. These don't look scarce at all. The packaging is wonderful, but I'm debating whether I will keep it. I haven't opened it and hearing there are no extras is disappointing. I can stream it in 4K, maybe it's better to wait for a UHD release.

They did send out an Academy Awards Screener but it is DVD only. It shouild be listed as such. A few sellers do have bootlegs up.

Similar story here: I bought it this morning thinking it might be tough to find later, but there were scads of them. And now I find out there are no extras? Will be returning this, no question.

Thanks for the reply. I had seen the screener copies here and there and suspected everything else was bootlegged copies of those screeners.

Question about the lack of extras. Has there been any related extras broadcast on Netflix that they didn't include? if so, I can see being bothered by the lack of extras. But frankly, I don't expect many extras any more for a TV release when so few people buy those releases anyway. If they're not making extras to show on their own channel as promo material, they probably will not longer exist short of the few tent pole titles like GoT and TWD.

Forced trailers is a deal-breaker here- I’ll just watch the rest on my Roku with the non-annoying Netflix interface. VHS tapes have an advantage on both of those now.

Forced trailers? And there are spoilers in them? That's kinda fucked up.
