I think it's hilarious that Kino points out Vosloo turned down an interview.
I'll likely pick it up if it gets cheap enough, but there are many Woo films I'd rather see get a 4k release than this one.

Sometimes I think the studio libraries have been picked clean, especially of genre stuff, but then a deal like this comes along and renews hope for interesting titles. Not so sure about the Shout upgrades. I can imagine some supplements being held back for various reasons, and perhaps to maintain some value for those versions as collectibles. Besides, considering how nearly everything in the KLSC catalog ends up in one of their sales, and for a lot less than Shout ever discounted stuff (except when it was going OOP), this should present some great opportunities to get titles we might have missed out on. The continued addition of Code Red and Scorpion titles – many of which have usually been previously-released – makes me want to hold off on buying their stuff first run from now on. Seems inevitable that a lot of it will end up with Kino sooner or later, and then in the sales.

Screen legends Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins deliver sensational, Oscar-winning performances in this spellbinding thriller based on the bestselling novel by Thomas Harris (Red Dragon, Hannibal). A psychopath nicknamed Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine, Heat) is murdering women across the Midwest. Believing it takes one to know one, the FBI sends trainee Clarice Starling (Foster, The Accused) to interview a demented prisoner who may provide clues to the killer’s actions. That prisoner is psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins, Nixon), a brilliant, diabolical cannibal who agrees to help Starling only if she’ll feed his morbid curiosity with details of her own complicated life. As their relationship develops, Starling is forced to confront not only her own hidden demons, but also an evil so powerful that she may not have the courage—or strength—to stop it! This terrifying masterpiece co-starred Scott Glenn (The Challenge) and garnered five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Jonathan Demme (Philadelphia) and Best Adapted Screenplay for Ted Tally (Before and After), only the third film in history to sweep the these five categories.

Well, that rules out it being Criterion's first 4K disc.

Just in time for Halloween, Kino Lorber is reissuing Code Red's long-out-of-print 2015 Blu-ray release of Trick or Treats, and...well, let me take the bullet for you with the review I just wrote (Skip It).

Catching up on some info over on the BR forum... It seems that Kino signed a deal with Sony for 31 titles, 24 have previously been released on Blu-ray. Maybe some titles that previously had Twilight Time editions? They want to try to get one of them out on UHD.

I hope someone picks up the Egyptian for distribution. It's been OOP for years and the twilight time disc fetches crazy prices. It can be had overseas but they aren't cheap either.

I was thrilled to learn that Homebodies was finally released on Nov. 2nd. One of the most interesting, singular, and overlooked films of the '70s, it's a charming, meaningful, sometimes suspenseful, sometimes hilarious cross between horror and social commentary, with touching performances from an ensemble cast of oldsters, and I dig this great film anew every time I see it. I would caution, though, that it's probably not for most modern horror buffs.
