Re: DC Animated Universe Films

If it's truer to the comics than the live action movie, there'll be less Smurf dick and more Dr. Manhattan in gradually shrinking Speedos.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I assume they'll use the comic's ending instead of the movie version. I'm kind of Watchmened out. Greatest comic ever but we've gotten the story now in virtually every medium, including a motion comic from about 15 years ago.

We are only one desperate executive decision away from Watchmen Babies.

I mean I never thought we'd get a sequel, much less the integration of them into the DC comic universe... can they get more desperate? I guess with your suggestion there's still a floor to fall through.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I don’t know what the comic books (Crisis on Infinite Earths) are like, I know this is a heralded storyline, but these movies have sucked. Just saw part 3 and while there’s a lot going on, it all seems really dull and boring. I don’t know what else to say. Having a team up like this for a 5 star comic book series should have been awesome, but wasn’t. It wasn’t at all. There was no excitement, no verve or life. Seems all too similar. This should have been a defining moment in DC’s pantheon of animated films, but these 3 should never be included. Hell, I liked Batman vs. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles better than this. This was truly a bad trilogy and what should have been the MCU’s Infinity War/Endgame, but there is absolutely no comparison. I felt nothing for these characters in CoIE. It was all vapid to me and I like many of these animated films, but this was tedious to get through.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I think the creative talent which carried many of the animated DC films have gotten older or retired. Splitting Crisis up into three parts was a sheer money grab which didn't work out.

For both Watchmen and Crisis, I would have liked seeing all 12 issues adapted into a series of 30-minute episodes. That's the only way those properties can properly be adapted.

Big Batman 4K set coming. But I wish it was complete. The last Blu-ray set had 18 films in it.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I don't know if anyone else is excited for this release, but it makes me extremely happy. I get to upgrade and also save space at the same time. Releasing September 10th, 2024. I wonder if there will be a steep price drop in the future which is what seems to happen to all of these releases. Right now, MSRP is $120.

Kind of a fun show to watch on occasion but I’m not a big enough fan to buy the complete series.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I was born in 1973 so the various iterations of Super Friends ruled my entire Saturday Morning cartoon watching until I aged out of it. Even when I was still watching as a pre-teen, I still watched the show in reruns.

This is the one show that I can say basically defines my Saturday Morning cartoon watching experience more than any other. I can't think of any other Saturday morning show that ran for so long or was seemingly always on even if it wasn't a new show.

I would say maybe The Flintstones but it started in prime time and eventually moved to Saturday Morning, so I don't really count it. And even though i enjoyed watching it as a kid, it doesn't hit my nostalgia feels like the various Super Friends shows do.

Same, I completely understand about Super Friends. I still associate those voices with many of the characters despite all their appearances in other mediums.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Apparently new discs will be pressed for Crisis part 3, as they accidentally used a stand-in voice for the Joker instead of Mark Hamill. The digital versions have already been updated.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I watched Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One on Max tonight. I didn’t think it was that bad. I was expecting worse because of the reviews I’ve seen.

I’ve actually never read the comic series so I can’t say how it is in comparison. I didn’t mind most of the voice acting but thought the animation was a bit odd.

I’ll watch the other two eventually though I think only Part Two is on Max.
