Justice Society: World War II trailer. Animation looks different here.

I love the JSA. If the only way we'll get a movie with them is because of Barry Allen... well, ok I guess.

I can't unsee a Venture Bros. influence here, especially in Hourman's grimacing face.

The digital HD of Batman Soul of the Dragon is only $9.99 at Prime Video. It's a MA title. Other retailers are $20

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I decided to rent Batman Soul of the Dragon from Red Box today to see if I would enjoy it instead of blind buying it.

I thought it had some cool elements to it. I liked the 1970s aspect to it and having Bruce work with Bronze Tiger, Shiva and Richard Dragon. Overall, it was good not great. I don't think I would ever rewatch it.

and it sorta ends on a cliffhanger. I don't know if that was intentional or not to leave it open for a sequel?

For those who are iffy about blind buying it, I say either rent it cheap from Red Box or wait until it hits HBO Max in a few months.

The retro '70s vibe is a great setting for Batman, though I wonder how many Batman fans walking in realize the movie is more martial arts than pure superhero fodder. I'll say it's one animated DC movie you can pass on UHD and go with the cheaper BD. There isn't much difference in picture quality with the UHD. Best Buy does have a limited edition set with a Bronze Tiger figure.

Didn’t buy Soul of the Dragon yet. I had different expectations for it. Sounds a bit disappointing to me.

Jensen Ackles is voicing BATMAN/BRUCE Wayne in "The Long Halloween" adaptation.

I think the newest one, couple weeks, I think, Justice Society: World War II. That looks real good. Very antiquing looking animation which would certainly fit time period. I can’t wait.

Looks like it could be decent.

But why still bother with that Part 1 / Part 2 bullshit???

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Probably $$$.
People buy both parts, then some of those same people double dip for the combined release.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

That looks kinda disappointing to me. Not a fan of the animation really, and the voice acting for most of the characters I’m not loving. Particularly I don’t think I like Jensen Ackles as Batman. I still will probably watch it, but I’m less excited than I was before.

Reportedly there won’t be an Ultra HD Blu-ray release until the combined 1/2 in 2022.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I watched Death in the Family on HBO Max and found it pretty meh. Maybe the interactivity would’ve added something, but the shorts were pretty good.

Don't see a Target steelbook exclusive for this yet. On the other hand, this is the Best Buy exclusive with the figurine

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I wonder if the Target Steelbooks aren’t a thing anymore. I think the last one I bought was Batman: Hush. I don’t remember any since then.

Which ones? I truly don’t remember any after that. I don’t think I’ve seen any at my local Target in a long time either.

I suppose to be fair I wasn’t going to Target as regularly when the pandemic first hit so maybe I missed a few. Seems like it’s been a while since I’ve seen one though.

Edit: I see Red Son is one that came after. I was thinking Hush came out after that one for some reason.

Has no one else seen Justice Society: WWII? It really is a great, thrilling entry and definitely one of the better ones.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I’m working on a review that’ll hopefully be up tomorrow, but the short version is pretty much what you said. I loved, loved, loved it, and at least for my money, DC is three for three since this most recent reboot.
