At least they have different DPCI numbers this time. Should be easier to locate on release day now.

I'm seeing this at the cinema next week. Closest I'll ever get to a one-night stand . Fucking Vudu is being wonky with the disc-to-digital on some of the older ones.

I've read that they added more theatres because of the big response this is getting.

Don't feel bad, the real ones aren't anything to remember. Anyway, what sort of problems are you having with Vudu, I've gotten quite a few of disc to digital to fill in the gaps of the DC animateds I didn't get a code with, no issues I could find. I just did Red Hood and Return of the Joker a couple of weeks ago.

I'm trying to figure out what to do about Killing Joke right now....part of me just wants to take off the morning and go search for the steelbook. The other part of me wants to go order it off Amazon France and forget about it. The former makes me feel like I'm playing hooky and the latter makes me feel like I'm being lazy but I know if I do my usual of waiting until after work that it won't be enough.

Here's my plan: I'm going to hit one Target before work, if I luck out then I'll pick up two copies and hold one for a random fellow DVDTalker who wasn't lucky enough to get a steelbook for themselves. If I don't find one at that Target I'll wait until I'm off of work that day and I'll have two more Targets not too out of the way on the way home. If I find a couple copies then great, if not I'll just buy the regular version. I'm not going to kill myself looking this time.

Maybe we can all make a pact here and vow that if we come across multple copies of the steelbook we'll buy one for a random DVDTalker who wasn't lucky enough to find a copy of his own? I personally won't buy more than two copies myself, just cause I don't want to look like an eBay asshole.

I am with you Golden. I will buy two as well if I see them. I usually have good luck finding these but it can be rather random. I won't see them the first day or two of release but then suddenly see one or two a week or so later.

But I am definitely going to look for Killing Joke on release day.

I paid an eBay scalper for a steelbook once. It was unpleasant. So if you want this and are worried about that, snap it up.

Most of the DCU Animated movies have been the kind of thing I'd feel fine about paying $1 to own digitally for: nothing remarkable enough to own on Blu-ray, but enjoyable enough. So far, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse & Batman: Assault on Arkham have given me error messages. I went to Vudu's forum to whine about it and sent out a customer support e-mail, but I can tell you right now that their answer is going to be "go to Walmart." And another disc last night misread as its own sequel. Disc to digital is still buggy as hell, and give. That their profits from are probably pretty low, I doubt fixing it is very high priority.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Luckily I took the first week of August off as I may be going to an event out of town on the 2nd. I should be able to make a stop at Target the morning this releases to grab a copy of the Steelbook (providing they have it stocked).

My recommendation is try out Free2d. Now, I own all of my discs legitimately (I'm not one of the nefarious who is using it for other means) but that program has saved me so much time, it's not funny. I don't have to go upstairs, grab it and then bring it downstairs not to work. Free2d has figured out what fingerprints have worked and eliminated hassle. Now, I say that and the two you mention, Assault on Arkham is not available through Free2d but Superman/Batman: Apocalypse is. Maybe you can ask on the forum and somebody might have figured it out.

I am with you guys too except I might be the one who doesn't find any, lol. But certainly, it is my intention to find it on release day and pick up an extra. As it stands right now, I probably won't be able to take off that day but I'll make sure to give myself about a 2 hour lunch time to hit as many Targets as I can possibly think of.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Wow I was able to order one just a few minutes ago, so thanks for posting, mrhan!

Maybe this won't be so limited after all.

I've never actually seen any of the DC animated stuff, but I love The Killing Joke (Alan Moore, the greatest author in human history!) so much I had to get this.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I take it you ordered the regular version? The steelbook listing has been sold out for awhile now.

I am going to try and pick up two to take care of someone here if they need a copy. I hope other regulars here can do the same (and maybe help me out if I'm unsuccessful).

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I too will be picking up two or more at each store I hit. At a minimum I'm going to hit two stores on release day since they are along my normal commute route. As I reported before I have been always successful in the past because for whatever reason the Target stores I hit are not selling a lot of these DC animated titles. I'll see in a couple week if this title is the exception to the rule.

I'm willing to pay for the D2D transfer, but they're largely disc I've borrowed from my friend. I don't say for one moment they should be free, but digital copies are worth about the $1-2 they charge, and these are the ideal thing to own in UV for me. Unfortunately, Walmart's horrendous customer service (the first two stores had no photo department, the third had no idea) means that when the in-home D2D doesn't work, it's a colossal pain.

Spoiler but not a spoiler... Read about something new that they are adding to this interpretation and I don't know what to really think of it. If this is one of the reasons how they are explaining it though... Then no...

"The thing about this is that it's controversial, so we added more controversy," explained screenwriter Brian Azzarello.

Spoiler:
From what I read they added more to the beginning with Barbara as Batgirl. The actual story from the book doesn't start until 30 minutes into the story.

As for the Target Steelbook pre order I noticed it works sometimes. I ordered 2different times for friends and I was able to get the pre-order to work.

I read the same thing. Not sure how I feel about it yet but we'll have to see how it plays out in the film. Sounds a bit out of place and kind of an awkward inclusion.

I just read an article on io9.com explaining the new additions, and frankly, if that is where they are going with it, I am definitely not a fan. It basically degrades the character even more for no reason at all.
