People seem to be impressed by the 3D version of Pacific Rim even though it is a postconversion:

I don't own many 3D discs but I was impressed with The Christmas Carol. It had some good effects; the movie wasn't too bad either.

That's very odd. For most people, it's exactly the opposite. Active 3D is much more likely to cause headaches than passive.

Yep, that's what I've read, and I do find it odd. Another reason why I don't pay to go see 3D for the most part. However, watching The Hobbit in 48fps was actually a very different experience for me. Didn't leave the theater with a splitting headache at all. I'm guessing that framerate helps with that.

'Gravity' is also a post convert - and it's stunning. The eventual bluray release should look amazing on home theater systems.

Step Up 3D is another good one- I have Step Up Revolution also but haven't had time to watch it yet.

One of my favorites is The Final Destination. There're some great in-your-face moments, but it also has a very nice sense of depth. Watch it with the surround setup at full throttle--it's a total blast.

One that hasn't been mentioned that I though was well worth it is The Great Gatsby. I love the look of that movie especially in 3D. Titanic is also another good one. Of course the Pixar movies: Monsters Inc, the Toy Story's, and Up. I saw others mention Tron Legacy which is good and then Hugo, Avatar, and Life of Pi are my 3 favorites in 3D. Unlike most I love 3D especially when done right and I hope it stays around forever. Hopefully this helps.

I see a lot of love for Hugo and, although it has very strong 3D, it also serves as a stress test for a 3D TV in terms of crosstalk. Depending on how prone to crosstalk your set might be, Hugo might prove to be quite frustrating rather than demo worthy.

How to Train Your Dragon is interesting. i simply adore the movie, but hesitate to upgrade simply because i already own it and trying not to double dip and possibly triple dip (from DVD), but it is a very strong possibility.

The best ones I have are:
House of Wax (This is an essential for any 3D collection.)
Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away
Hugo
Pina
Guilty pleasures:
Step Up: Revolution. Cheesy story but 3D is lots of fun.
A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas

is House of Wax 3D really that good? i mean considering this was the traditional blue/red glasses right?

If you don't have it already, Step Up 3D is the best example of how to shoot in 3D. There were some votes for Step Up: Revolution but that pales in comparison.

Re: Which 3D Blu-rays are "worth" it?
Not at all. The red/blue glasses were an attempt to recreate 3D on traditional TV's before we had 3D TV's. It was never used as a theatrical format. House of Wax was a true 3D movie & is FINALLY available on home video that way for the first time in 60 years. So that's why people are kind of excited about it. Still, don't go in with unrealistic expectations. It's still an early 50's movie in 4x3 format with lots of grain. But very cool to see.

Tangled is another good one. And you asked about Up, that's great as well. Every 3D Pixar title is pretty much a good one. I can't wait until they get to The Incredibles, if they haven't converted it already.
