I work at FOX and can probably pick the extended edition for around $19.99, which is what they usually sell it at for employees. The regular BD set will probably be $15.99.

So I guess it's $26.99 at Best Buy for their fancy packaging, or $24.99 at Target. Leaning towards that Best Buy set.

Re: The Wolverine - December 3

so the EC is on both BDs sets or just the 3D one?

Maybe the review I read didn't go into it or maybe just the 3D set has the EC. Hrmmm.

Re: The Wolverine - December 3

Well the TC was the one released in it's PC 3D. Guess it'd be more work to have an EC in 3D? Actually have they had a DC or EC in 3D, where the TC was the only version released in 3D? I don't think so.

How is it that as time as gone on BD new-releases have gotten more expensive? Nearly $30 for a release week title? That's absurd.

G.I. Joe 2? If so, it had the EC released in a 3D BD?

I thought the Extended Action Cut was released as a 2D BD at Best Buy.

that's what I thought as well. The EC has been released in the UK too, I think. But I remember it being 2D as well.

New release DVDs, before BD, also come out at like the $25 range?

I only vaguely remember buying DVDs on release day but I seem to recall they were usually between $17-$20. Not cheap by any means, but it seems that MSRP on BDs have gone up over the past year or two and not gone down. Just seems odd.

Re: The Wolverine - December 3

I think you're right. 20 was the ugly max. hasn't the standard for regulard BD be at the $25 mark? 3D changed it up for sure, for that format. And Disney have always been dicks about their pricing with BD. Thankfully i'm a club member now. Balances it out.

Re: The Wolverine - December 3

I'll wait for unboxing vids for what Best Buy's edition looks like, but right now I'm leaning towards the regular 4-disc edition (Love all that blackness inside the packaging. I'm so not used to BDs looking like this)

^....Or at least I'm assuming that's a R1 release

It is. Same for every other country that released it. The Extended Action Cut is basically the original rough cut before they added that pickup with Tatum and the Rock playing Call of Duty and converting the film to 3D.

The Call of Duty scene is in the extended cut of G.I. Joe Retaliation.

Re: The Wolverine - December 3

After seeing the BB exclusive packaging, I think I'm going to hold off for now. It's not really a digipak (the box itself is larger than the original trilogy release), but some of the cards and stuff look alright.
Spoiler:

Interesting. Here I was under the impression that it was excluded from the extended cut. Thatnks for the corrected information.

How's the extended duel between Jinx and Snake Eyes?
