Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread

I'd be interested in both The Brood and the first Scanners, at the very least...

The price dropped three pounds this morning - I could definitely see it dropping to £25 or less by release date.

Not sure if it made it by release date, but it is down to that now.

FotN is really a nice looking set. Don’t know much about movie. May have seen it, but may not. Looking forward. Sounds like a cool Explorers like story and some really good extras.

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread

Following some speculation we can confirm we will be releasing The Hitcher on Blu-ray! We would have loved to release a 4K, however original elements are missing or no longer exist and this therefore won’t be possible. We’ve searched via several film archive associations with worldwide members plus other routes. Only prints exist, and then very rarely. We will be using the existing master taken from a print which is in the best condition we have seen. However, further restoration work is being done on the master to address several issues that we can improve upon, including some image warping caused by rips/tears. Hours will be spent in manual restoration for further dirt and scratch removal, splice removal, improved stability and flicker repair. We are also re-grading to balance colour given the print source. We aim to give The Hitcher the best possible presentation it has ever had.

Psyched about Martin & The Guest hitting 4K! For the former, I still have my old Anchor Bay DVD.

Did anyone pick up Second Sight's 4K UHD release of The Babadook? How's the PQ?

My copy of Babadook finally arrived yesterday but have not opened it yet. Maybe tonight or tomorrow.

Good news: The 3.5 hour Black & White/Director's Cut of Martin (1977) was found. 16mm!4

Bad news: It was delivered to Producer Richard Rubinstein

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread

Wait?? Blu-ray too? I read yesterday about this release and was so hyped until it said 4K only and thought only UHD. I mean the German release is pretty good, but I’m sure this will be much better. I’m getting excited. Would happily upgrade and I’m sure some different extras.

I’ve been buying both actually. But only Blu for me right now preferable.

Excited about The Hitcher. Top-tier '80s thriller with an inimitable perf from Hauer.

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread

Looks like I'll be picking up the Second Sight release and holding off on Turbine Media's Limited Edition.

Second Sight did phenomenal work on Dawn of the Dead (1978) and I can't imagine they won't do the same with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

I imagine the release will be similar to Dawn.

Not that I know. I was talking more about having a nice sturdy thick slipcover, type of disc case and Diabolik releasing here in the states.
