The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
With these guys stepping up their game recently, I figured they deserved their own thread. Discussion of their release of Return of the Living Dead located here.
From The Digital Fix: Following their recent Blu-ray release of The Return of the Living Dead, Second Sight have announced plans to release several other cult classics on Blu-ray and DVD later this year. First up is Frank Henenlotter’s Basket Case Trilogy which will be getting a special limited edition Blu-ray steelbook release, as well as a special edition DVD. Slated for release on 22 October 2012 it will come with an amazing array of special features plus specially commissioned artwork by Graham Humphreys. Later on this year there will be some more classic 80's horror titles getting the special edition treatment including Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator and From Beyond, and Brian Yuzna's Bride Of Re-Animator and Society. Full details are TBC as Second Sight works on the special features packages. You can keep up to date with their progress via their Facebook page.

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
I'll definitely have to look into their Re-Animator release. It doesn't look like Anchor Bay will be doing it any time soon...
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
I'm not really a fan of that Basket Case artwork, but if exclusive extras for the three films are included I'll likely buy it, and then perhaps double dip on the Synapse sequels next year.
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
I still need to pick up that ROTLD release.
That Basket Case Steelbook looks sweet. |
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
La gloire de mon père/Le château de ma mère on 10/8:
Together for the first time in a double disc box set, both films are fully restored and feature a host of newly-commissioned extras. |

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
Interesting choice. Does Disney usually license out overseas?
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
I've never heard of it before, but I'm no Disney expert. I'd love to see Second Sight put out Something Wicked This Way Comes. They're releasing Short Circuit on 11/5 as well.
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
Well, that was quick. I asked Second Sight if they had plans for any other Disney titles:
Nothing else at the moment. |

It's pretty disappointing that this thread is not about a Blu Ray release of the John Larroquette/Bronson Pinchott epic film of the same name.

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
That pre-order price is not pretty.
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
£31.49 doesn't seem unreasonable for a three-film steelbook. There's still time for the price to go down.
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
FWIW, I held off on pre-ordering the Return of the Living Dead Second Sight release at £11, as I thought/assumed it would get cheaper, but it's only gone up since.

Well that's good news. From what I've heard, even though Return of the Living Dead is technically supposed to be Region B, hitting the menu button on the region lock screen lets you bypass it... |

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
A couple of items, in response to an email I sent Second Sight:
* The running time on the new documentary included with the Basket Case trilogy will be around 80 minutes * There are no plans for a box set of the Yuzna/Gordon films |

Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
The Brood?! That's fantastic news. I will also be happy to pick up Scanners, but The Brood is a favorite of mine.
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
More Cronenberg on Blu-Ray? I'm in!
|
Re: The Official Second Sight Blu-ray Thread
I'm really only interested in the first Scanners, but I'm guessing I'll be stuck with the entire trilogy. Stephen Lack is woefully underwhelming in the lead (I wince at every line reading), but his limitations are generally covered by the strong supporting performances, terrific score, and of course the FX.
