I'll probably pick up the BD/DVD pack for $14.99 (after Coupon) this coming Tuesday.

I want the photo book from Target, but BB has the better price after coupon. Decisions decisions...

Perhaps you should go for the cheaper set, then use the money you saved to go towards this instead:

Amazon has 2D BR at 19.99 now, 3D BR still 29.99.

Good call. I've actually still got that sitting in my "saved for later" cart. BB it is.

Amazon has lowered the 3D set to $24.99. But I'll still go with Best Buy with the upgrade/save coupon.

Prometheus Blu-ray Bonus Ties In To Blade Runner Universe

Included in the UK release of Prometheus is some kind of text supplement that nods toward Ridley Scott’s other big sci-fi favourite, Blade Runner. It’s a nice bit of fan service, but I don’t think we should get ahead of ourselves and expect Alien-verse tie ins when the Runner spin-off comes along.

http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5fcf92d2.jpg

So Weyland’s mentor was Eldon Tyrell? Okay. He was in this more or less meaningless bit of ancillary who-knows-what anyway.

Well, if nothing else this reminds us how many of the same ideas are chewed over in both of Scott’s sci-fi worlds.

Thanks to Live For Film and Reddit for the image.

So do we have an official list of extras for the US BR yet?

Went by BB today and traded in some DVD's for the $5 Coupon. While there grabbed Underworld Awakening 3D for $13.00 using one coupon and used another for the Prometheus 3D pre-ordered. I'm not taking chances.

I pre-ordered from BB a couple of weeks ago and got the code card to download it to my PS3. When they took my reservation, I asked for the non-3D. However, at that time they had not released the full list of extras. It appears if I want the extras I have to get the version that has the 3D disc regardless of whether or not I want it. Will they let me apply my reservation $$ towards the big version instead without much hassle?

I thought Underworld Awakening 3D was on sale for $19.99. Shouldn't it have been $15 with the U&S coupon?

I noticed that the specs say 2.40:1 aspect ratio. It's not going to switch back and forth to 1.78:1 for the 3D scenes like Tron Legacy did? I think Avenegers was 1.78:1 for the whole movie.

Blu-ray.com's review of the 3D/4-disc set.

(And the regular 3-disc set as well.)

Prometheus was projected at 2.35:1 in most theaters, but was opened up to 2:1 in MAX theaters. In either case, the ratio is constant throughout the entire movie. It did not alternate ratios from scene to scene like The Dark Knight or Tron Legacy.

I watched the first 20 minutes or so yesterday and the picture in the opening sequence looked amazing.

The 7.1 was very emersive.

I thought it opened up to something like 1.66:1. It looked like it filled just about the entire screen at the IMAX 70mm one I went to.

The true IMAX screens showed it in 1.66:1. A shame we don't get that option for the BD...at least a 1.78:1 ala Avatar would be nice.

I teach college; got a laugh today while overhearing some students talking about Prometheus.

"Yeah, I saw that," one of them said. "It's a prequel to Alien vs. Predator."

Any advice on if my request to put my reservation $$$ toward a more expensive version will work?

So much stuff was cut that answers a lot of the problems with the film.

This is an interesting point you make. Scott has a lot of clout though and I can't think the theatrical version is not the one he wanted to give us.

However, now that you say that, an extended cut does sound likely and gives me pause!

E Unit 10-08-12 04:41 PM

Re: Prometheus - 10/?/12

Considering this release has 37 minutes of deleted scenes, I doubt we'll see another release sactioned by Ridley Scott. If he wanted those 37 minutes in the film, he could have put them back in.
