I loved it and will most likely buy this. If you think of it as a sci-fi movie with some loose connections to the Alien universe, instead of expecting it to be an actual Alien movie, then you should be fine.

What I think of it as is a dumb movie filled with moron characters who behave idiotically for no reason at all.

Spoiler:

"Hey, look at that angry alien penis monster hissing at us. So cute! Let's go pet it!"

"What's that? My men are in danger? Whatevs. I'm gonna go get laid. BOO-YAAA!!"

"Oh my god, this giant wheel-shaped spaceship is rolling towards me in a straight line. Rather than step about three feet to the side to avoid it, I'm going to continue running in its path so that it can crush me. Because I am a genius and that seems like a really good idea."

To argue your second point, it was Charleze Theron. I think any intelligent movie with that scenario would have played out the way it did in this movie.

Yeah, point number two is the only logical action in the three complaints listed by Josh Z.

Yeah, can't argue w/ the Charlize Theron argument. Fine ass pussy on your ship? And you the Captain? Well...fuuuuuuck. You got to have a piece of that ass.

MajorNelson just tweeted about a deleted scene available on the 360:

Xbox Video is the only place you can get 'Prometheus' in HD w/ over an hour of bonus material. Watch it this weekend.

Plus, I just found out that you can watch an exclusive deleted scene by doing a Bing search on your console for “Elizabeth Shaw.”

Spoiler:
The deleted scene is w/ Guy Pearce and Charlize Theron, explaining more about their relationship.

What are you talking about ? Of course I know what a horrible movie is. And Prometheus is one of them. Why would you say I don't know what a horrible movie is ?

I'm not going to lie but...The Captain getting his piece of ass was like in the top 5 great moments in this film. I mean...he had to make sure she wasn't an android. The man is a risk taker. Willing to sacrifice his life to ensure the safety of him and his crew. Brave man, that Captain. I applaud him for his actions. I want to be the Captain when I grow up.

You're basically a Mexican Idris Elba.

I actually liked the film. No, nowhere near Alien or Aliens in quality but probably on the same level as Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection.

I kind of look at this as a pilot of a TV show. It introduces a lot of the main thoughts and logic, but doesn't delve deep enough into it to really make a cohesive movie out of it. How many TV pilots have been crap because they were basically introducing the characters (in this case more the concepts), but as the series went on, we grew to understand and enjoy them?

That's why I'm truly hoping that this is the start of a trilogy, where the second and third will build upon and capitlize on the ideas from Prometheus but able to tell a more engrossing story with it.

Spoiler:
Especially with more overt, visable Alien tie-in at the end. I can see the sequels as bridging the gap between this and the Alien movies.

Honestly this is one movie, like some others mentioned, where I'd be more interested in seeing the behind the scenes stuff and interviews that I usually don't bother with. Since I probably won't buy this movie (to me it still isn't "catalog" worthy), it sucks that most video chains are now stocking the movie-only rentals without the supplemental material.

I've seen the movie twice. The more I thought about this movie, the more I loved it. Sure there are some flaws but I think the depth is there. There was an essay in the movie thread that dissected the religious symbolism and I think it's spot on. While I'm all for a sequel, I'm not really sure one is needed to explain the first movie. The film stands on its own for me.

I guess I'm not trying to say that the first movie needed to be "explained" more (although I'm sure there are plenty of things that could still be answered). I just would like to see the story evolve. And, I guess just being a huge fan of the first two Alien films, would love to see how the Alien / Engineers civilization evolved, the story of the first crew that the original Alien ship was attempting to find, etc. Ridley Scott may not want to go this route but it sure would be awesome to see him connect the dots.

I'm guessing so since it matches this post from August that was on the movie thread.

What's the full list of extras for the US release? Almost everything I am seeing seems to relate to overseas releases.

The problem is that if your TV pilot episode is this bad, people won't watch the show. Even if it's lucky enough to get picked up for a series at all, it'll be canceled after a couple of episodes.

Wal-Mart has an interesting incentive. You pay $25 for the Blu-Ray, and you can watch it on VUDU now.
