and I thought the thread activity was an update confirming the reason the street date was delayed is so we get the extended edition with branching choices in 3D Blu, 2D Blu, DVD, etc.... but now we will need to continue to wonder.. until we actually know .. if there will even be an extended edition..

That's a good question. Especially since the BD will already include 30 minutes of deleted scenes. Will those be what the extended cut features? Or will it have different footage altogether?

I think all the talk of the extended cut is basically a rumor that spun wildly out of control due to the nature of internet "reporting." One website said, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if..." and then all the aggregate sites repeated the idle speculation.

That's not to say it won't happen, but I think it's unlikely.

I thought Disney denied the rumor that they would be releasing an extended cut.

I think it's horseshit that you need to buy the 3D version to get all the special features.

Still buying though... who am I kidding? I'm going to give the cashier a most sour look though.

Hmmm, that could range from awesome to a weak puff piece for the lead-in films.

Yeah. I'd hope it'd be in HD if it was actually good.

Yup probably just clips of the previous movies and how they tie into this one with a little bit of actor participation probably taken from some other special feature.

I was thinking it would just be BTS stuff from all the other films - most likely already present on all those other films' Blu-rays, but re-edited into a 90-minute presentation. I'm guessing it's not 90 minutes that can't be found elsewhere on other discs...but who knows?
